Citroen C4 Cactus: Specs, prices and on-sale date

Refreshed C4 Cactus on sale now; UK deliveries start in April 2018

Three years after its original launch, the Citroen C4 Cactus has been updated to keep it fresh and competitive against its numerous rivals. The new C4 Cactus is available to order now, with prices starting at £17,265 on-the-road.

The biggest visual change is a relative lack of exterior cladding. Citroen originally fitted the C4 Cactus with large, practical plastic ‘Airbump’ trim pieces, which offered protection from car park dings and gave the C4 Cactus an appealing rough-and-tumble look.

Now, though, as Citroen continues to develop its Aircross range of SUVs, the C4 Cactus has been stripped of its pseudo-SUV styling to help set it apart in the range – its Airbump protection is now much less of a statement. Other styling changes include a reworked front bumper with new LED running lights, a new rear bumper and restyled rear lights.

It’s more or less business as usual inside, however; the C4 Cactus retains the same interior albeit with more comfortable seats. Extra sound insulation and new windows have been added to make things quieter, too.

The new C4 Cactus keeps the same engines as the original car, but adds two more to the upper end of the range. There are 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engines in 81, 108 and new 138bhp power outputs, along with 99 and 118bhp versions of a four-cylinder, 1.6-litre diesel. The latter of the two diesel engines will only be available with an automatic gearbox and will arrive in the second half of 2018.

Citroen C4 Cactus specifications

There are three trim levels to choose from – Feel, Flair and limited-run Feel Edition. Feel trim is available with the PureTech 110 and 130 petrol engines or the BlueHDi 100 diesel, while Flair trim brings the choice of a more powerful PureTech 130 petrol engine.

Feel trim gets 16-inch alloys, black body styling pieces and front foglights, plus ‘Wild Grey’ interior trim with ‘Advance Comfort’ seats, a front armrest and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. In-car technology includes a seven-inch touchscreen, a DAB digital radio with six speakers and Bluetooth connectivity, while cruise control with a speed-limiter function and variable power steering are also standard. Standard safety equipment includes autonomous emergency braking, electronic stability control and a seatbelt warning system.

Flair adds 17-inch alloys, silver coloured exterior details, tinted rear windows and electric folding door mirrors, with sat nav, Citroen’s Connect Box system and automatic air-conditioning added inside. A panoramic sunroof, a reversing camera, parking sensors and automatic lights and wipers are also included. Extra safety equipment over standard includes 'Active Safety Brake', lane-departure warning and Citroen’s 'Coffee Break Alert' system, which warns if it detects signs of drowsiness in the driver.

Limited-edition Feel Edition cars get a choice of five exterior paint finishes, special red exterior touches and 16-inch alloys, plus an interior with red trim. The Feel Edition is only available with the PureTech 82 petrol engine.

Prices

The Citroen C4 Cactus range starts at £17,965 for the entry-level PureTech 110 petrol model with a manual gearbox in Feel trim, while the entry level BlueHDi 100 diesel costs £18,995 in the same specification.

Flair models start at £19,865 for the PureTech 110 petrol, climbing to £21,165 for the same engine with an automatic gearbox and to £20,665 for the more powerful PureTech 130 model. The BlueHDi 100 diesel starts at £20,895 in Flair Trim.

The limited-run Cactus Feel Edition (only available in PureTech 82 petrol form) is the cheapest of the lot, with prices from £17,265.

The Citroen C4 Cactus is on sale now; UK deliveries start in April 2018.
