Isuzu D-Max pickup - Practicality & boot space
The Isuzu D-Max offers plenty of carrying and towing capacity
The Isuzu D-Max, like every other pickup, is a cargo-carrying workhorse at heart, so it comes as no surprise that it’s capable of hauling large loads. In fact, 4x4 models can carry up to 1,108kg.
Isuzu D-Max interior space & storage
If you're going to be carrying passengers regularly, it's best to go for one of the double-cab models. While the load bed is slightly shorter, there are five proper seats and back doors for easy access. Double-cab D-Maxes get ISOFIX child seat mounting points. Extended-cab versions have flip-down seats for occasional use, and single-cab Utility models have just two seats.
Boot space
All versions of the D-Max are double-cab models, with the exception of the DL20 (which is also available as an extended cab) and the Utility (which is the only version available as a single cab).
The double cab’s load bed is 1,485mm long, 1,530mm wide and 465mm deep, which is bettered slightly by the extended cab’s 1,795mm by 1,530mm by 465mm. That means both models are at the more capacious end of the pickup market.
A number of hard and soft load covers are available, as well as a range of truckman top arrangements. Load-bed covers, roof bars and even a bed extender (which fits in the rear of the load bed to allow longer loads to be carried) are also offered.
Towing
The Isuzu D-Max can tow a braked trailer weighing up to 3,500kg and a dealer-fit tow bar with electrics is available.
