Jaguar I-Pace SUV - Reliability & safety
I-Pace should be the most reliable Jaguar in the range and there's plenty of safety tech
Jaguar hasn’t had the best reputation for reliability in recent years, but owners are satisfied with their cars more generally. The I-Pace does at least have the fact that it’s an electric car in its favour, as they tend to go wrong less than conventional cars. Jaguars are well built and safe and the I-Pace promises to be no different; it’s loaded with safety technology.
Jaguar I-Pace reliability
The I-Pace made its debut appearance in the 2023 Driver Power satisfaction survey, but it didn’t have much to shout about with a 65th place result from 75 cars – a far from glowing performance, and 15 positions behind the combustion-powered F-Pace. Jaguar slipped to tenth place in the list of best brands in the 2023 Driver Power satisfaction survey, from its strong sixth in 2022, partly because of a worryingly high 44% of owners reporting at least one fault with their cars in the first 12 months. At least there’s generally less to go wrong with electric cars because there are far fewer moving parts in a battery electric powertrain than a petrol or diesel engine.
Safety
The I-Pace comes with plenty of safety equipment and, like all other current Jaguar models, has scored five stars in Euro NCAP crash tests. It scored well across all four assessment categories, including 91% for adult occupant protection and 81% for both the child occupant protection and safety assist categories. The I-Pace comes with various safety systems as standard including traffic-sign recognition, lane-keeping assistance, driver condition monitor, emergency braking, a rear traffic monitor and clear exit monitor. SE spec and above gets the Drive Pack, comprising blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control and high-speed emergency braking.
