Bought the car, second hand and have owned it for approximately 1 year and the only thing to go wrong is a brake caliper, well it's not a new car so what can one expect. Very happy with the car and the DSG gearbox, although the 18" alloys are easily damaged and the standard fit RCD300 radio has no business being in a modern car. Buy one, you'll love it.

Just over 3 years old. Total mileage 13,357. Took car into VW Garage and asked them to investigate slipping clutch and noise from clutch area. They removed transmission and found excessive movement in dual mass flywheel. And clutch bearing leaking fluid onto clutch. They replaced clutch and flywheel assembly. Total bill £1,401 ouch! Bob the service manager gets 10 out of 10. He was authorised to give up to 40% discount which he did immediately. So I then got hold of the managing director who eventually gave me another 5% off. So I paid with reluctance £770.54 to get my car back. Now I am talking to VW customer care, having driven Golf GTIs since 1987. So far no luck with VW customer care. So far 3 levels up the customer care hierarchy. No joy yet in getting my money back. I will persevere!
