Hot car deal: high-quality Audi A4 Avant for £280 a month

If you’re after a new family car with a premium edge, today’s crop of SUVs may seem like the obvious place to look, but we’ve spotted an Audi A4 Avant estate deal that we think is more than worthy of consideration. For just £280 per month, you could be behind the wheel of one of our favourite estate cars, with a high-quality interior, a punchy and smooth petrol engine and, of course, a giant boot for all your cargo-carrying needs.

What’s so good about this Audi A4 Avant deal? 

This deal offered by Xcite Car Leasing will cost you £279.79 for two years, with an initial upfront payment of £3,357.50. There’s a mileage limit of 5,000 per year, but as with most leasing deals, this can be increased if you’re willing to pay more each month. For example, doubling the mileage limit ups the monthly payments to £297.91, while the upfront fee increases by around £220.

The A4 Avant offered in this deal is the middle-tier S Line model with a list price of nearly £42,000. That makes the £280 monthly fee seem quite reasonable – even more so when you consider that we couldn’t find a rival BMW 3 Series Touring lease deal for under £400 per month. It has all the features you could need, including a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a reversing camera, 19-inch alloy wheels and Audi’s Virtual Cockpit. You even get sportier exterior bodywork along with lowered suspension to improve the A4 Avant’s handling.

This A4 Avant comes with the more powerful of the two petrol engines that Audi offers. It’s a 2.0-litre four-cylinder that puts out 201bhp through the front wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox. While a diesel engine may seem like the obvious choice for an estate car, Audi claims that this petrol model will still return around 40mpg.

What’s so good about the Audi A4 Avant?

Audi’s range of estate cars have long been renowned for their excellent build quality, comfortable interiors and generous standard equipment – and the Audi A4 Avant is no exception. You could argue that it’s growing fairly old in the tooth compared to some rivals, but Audi has continued to update and refine the A4, resulting in an estate car that feels modern yet old-school in the right areas. Its spacious interior is a highlight, with premium materials and physical buttons and switches for important controls.

Anything else I need to know about this deal?

This is a lease deal, often referred to as Personal Contract Hire (PCH), so there’s no option to buy the car at the end of the contract. You are effectively renting the car for the two-year term, but the deal is very flexible so you can adjust the term length, mileage limit and initial payment size to suit, but only at the outset. Once the deal is over, you just hand the keys back and start looking for your next car.
