UK pricing revealed for updated Audi Q8
The Audi Q8 receives a midlife facelift with a tweaked exterior, but the plug-in hybrid will not be making a comeback
- Remodelled exterior
- Upgraded tech and infotainment system
- Prices start from £75,500
Audi has revealed pricing for its flagship Q8 SUV, following the host of upgrades that the German marque has planned for its mid-cycle refresh in a bid to keep it competitive with the likes of the BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE Coupe.
Externally, the Q8 gains a revised grille with restyled air intakes and LED headlights (with optional matrix LEDs available) sporting a new light signature. Sporty SQ8 versions get a different front grille and honeycomb-shaped inserts on the air intakes.

At the rear, the new Q8’s taillight design has been restyled, and the rear diffuser, skid plate and door trim surrounds are finished in contrasting colours depending on the trim level. The SQ8 gets a unique restyled lip spoiler and redesigned rear diffuser. The Q8’s alloy wheel
On the inside, the new Q8 receives some minor upgrades to its technology, such as a wider range of apps for its infotainment system, including third-party software such as Spotify and Amazon Music
Additional features include a reversing camera, parking assistance tech, high beam assist and keyless entry as standard. Lane change warning, crossroad assist and traffic light recognition tech are also available and now feature more prominently on the Audi ‘virtual cockpit’ screen ahead of the driver.
New Audi Q8 engine range and performance
There are no major changes to the new Audi Q8’s range of engines compared with the outgoing model – all V6 engines come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, quattro four-wheel drive and mild-hybrid assistance.
The lineup kicks off with the 45 TDI, which gets 228bhp and a 7.1-second 0-62mph time, plus a top speed of 140mph. Step up to the 50 TDI and power increases to 282bhp and the 0-62mph acceleration time is cut by a second. The 50 TDI’s top speed is also slightly faster at 150mph.
Petrol models include the 55 TFSI – a V6 with a power figure of 335bhp and 5.6-second 0-62mph time. The top speed is limited to 155mph. Above this, the SQ8 gets a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 good for 500bhp, and can do a 0-62mph sprint in just 4.1 seconds. The V8 SQ8 even gets cylinder deactivation tech to save fuel, although with a fuel economy figure of 22.7mpg, it’s still fairly thirsty.
The Q8 range will consist of three different trim grades in the UK: S Line, Black Edition, and Vorsprung. A fourth ‘Launch Edition’ trim will also be available for a limited amount of time.
Audi also recently discontinued the plug-in version of the Q8 and has confirmed that it will not be returning as part of this facelift. On the other hand, an even higher-performance RS Q8 version is also in the works, but Audi has not yet revealed any details about what to expect from it, so performance SUV fans will have to make do with the SQ8 for now.
