New Bentley Bentayga Hybrid offered in S and Azure trims
An increasing number of Bentayga trims will be capable of 27-mile EV range
- Hybrid powertrain with 27-mile EV range
- S features black exterior trim and sports exhaust
- Azure majors on refinement and comfort
Hybrid power has been confirmed for the Bentley Bentayga S and Azure trim levels, arriving in 2023. It means buyers will be able to choose a smaller and electrified powertrain capable of driving up to 27 miles on electric power alone.
Until now, the most economical engine offered in the Bentayga S and Azure was Bentley’s 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo petrol engine with 542bhp. The Bentayga Hybrid is based around a smaller 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, paired with a 134bhp electric motor and an 18kWh battery.
Despite its slight eco-credentials, the Hybrid can still produce a combined 456bhp and sprint from 0-62mph in 5.3 seconds, while it has a top speed of 158mph. Fuel economy figures are yet to be released, but other versions of the Bentayga Hybrid have figures of just over 80mpg – although achieving that relies on you using the battery power for the majority of the time. The S Hybrid also has a Sport mode, providing ‘sound enhancements’ from the engine bay and stiffening the suspension by 15%, while its sports exhaust that can even be tuned to sound different for front and rear passengers.
The S Hybrid features a Blackline specification, with polished metal exterior trim and black door mirrors, side sills, grille and headlights. Alloy wheels are 22 inches in diameter, and available with a black, silver or polished finish, while the rear of the SUV features a large spoiler, tinted rear lights and black exhaust tips.
Bentley has focussed on making the Azure trim as quiet as possible, and claims it is between 4% and 26% quieter than its rivals. It also sits on 22-inch wheels and features chrome exterior trim, ambient mood lighting, a heated steering wheel, quilted upholstery and front seats which adjust in 22 directions and provide heating and ventilation.
