Cute Citroen Ami gets a retro nip and tuck!
The Citroen Ami has been facelifted with rounder headlights and design cues that pay homage to the 2CV
- Cosmetic changes
- Nods to the classic Citroen 2CV
- Same range and performance as before
The weeny Citroen Ami has just had a mid-life refresh, with a revamped exterior design that’s simpler and more retro-inspired with nods to the brand’s past models. The most significant change is the front and rear panels which are now flatter and feature high-mounted round lights that jut out like those of a classic 2CV.
Also reminiscent of the original 2CV are the pronounced wheel arches and the subtle side slats under the front quarter windows. The cherry on top of the redesign is the brand’s new retro-inspired logo on the centre of the front and rear panels, bringing the Ami in line with Citroen’s latest models.
Can I personalise the new Citroen Ami?
The Citroen Ami comes in a colour the company calls ‘Night Sepia’, but there are three colour packs on offer – red, white and green. Specifying one of these adds unique graphics to the quadricycle’s exterior, checkerboard wheel covers and an insert in the dashboard.
What else is new on the Citroen Ami?
Well, not much – aside from the new look, the Citroen Ami’s underpinnings are unchanged. That means it’s still powered by a tiny 5.5kWh battery and an 8bhp electric motor that maxes out at 28mph. The Ami is also capable of a range of up to 46 miles to a charge like before.
On the inside there’s a small instrument panel that displays information for the driver and a handy smartphone holder for you to mount your phone to use as a sat nav or to play music, for example.
What about the Citroen Ami Buggy?
The new Citroen Ami was revealed alongside a Citroen Ami Buggy Vision concept with chunkier tyres, black wheelarch cladding and no doors for a more rugged look like that of the previous limited-run Ami Buggy.
It features an exclusive ‘Midnight Blue’ body colour and white roof with yellow headlights and LED lights on the roof. It’s unknown whether this will go on sale, but it wouldn’t be completely unheard of if the demand is there.
How much will the Citroen Ami cost?
It’s still early days with regard to pricing details, but we wouldn’t expect the Ami to get too much of a price surge, given the update amounts purely to cosmetic changes. For context, the outgoing Ami costs just £7,695.
