Today’s hot car deal: family-friendly Citroen C5 Aircross for £213 per month

Our hot deal for 22 December Citroen’s full-sized SUV, one of the most comfortable family cars you can buy

Citroen C5 Aircross

Citroen has a reputation for comfort, and that’s carried through on its family-sized SUV, the C5 Aircross. It’s not the last word in driver thrills, but this model has impressed us in the past for its practicality and ability to soothe out journeys, be they cross-country treks or just the school run.

The French manufacturer’s sales teams have been stocking up on the C5 Aircross and a few have now sneaked through onto the leasing market as ‘pre-registered vehicles’ – still brand new, but with paperwork completed first by the dealership. They’re keen to shift them on, though, which means some very keen personal lease prices – as little as £213 per month, in the case of today’s star offering.

What’s so good about this Citroen C5 Aircross deal?

As a general rule, in recent history a monthly personal contract hire (lease) fee of around £200-£225 would be enough to get you a supermini, or perhaps a small family hatchback.

But the deal we’ve found through broker aggregator selectcarleasing.co.uk gets you into a 1.2-litre Citroen C5 Aircross for £213 per month. The initial payment is pretty much par for the course as well, at the equivalent of nine months, or £1,920 (plus an admin fee of £294).

The fact that this is a pre-reg car means that it’ll be in stock and ready to go – and while the terms of this deal are a little restrictive, at two years and 5,000 miles per year, you can bump the mileage allocation up to 8,000 per year for an extra tenner a month.

What’s so good about the Citroen C5 Aircross?

We rate the C5 Aircross pretty highly here at Carbuyer. Its quirky styling won’t be for everyone but at least it stands out from the crowd, and it has a decent range of engines. In the case of today’s choice, it has the proven 1.2-litre PureTech three-cylinder engine, producing 130PS/128bhp. That’s just about enough for a car of this size, although you may need to be patient if you’ve loaded the car to the hilt. Either way, the PureTech is a pretty refined performer – and it’ll return up to a claimed 48.9mpg.

Citroen C5 Aircross

Citroen is still trading on its reputation for comfort, and the C5 Aircross gets some hydraulic bump stops to help smooth out the worst road imperfections. The end result is still nowhere near as plush as a premium or luxury SUV on air suspension, and it’s at its best on smaller wheels than the 18-inchers featured on this deal, but you still might be surprised by how well cushioned you are, particularly at lower speeds around town.

There’s room for five, and the rear seats can be moved forwards and backwards to prioritise either legroom for the passengers there, or outright boot capacity. The loadbay is a decent size regardless.

The trim level is Max, which brings plenty of useful standard kit. You’ll get electric heated and folding side mirrors, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a gloss-black styling pack, front and rear parking sensors with rear-view camera, auto headlights and wipers, dual-zone air conditioning, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 10-inch infotainment system with navigation.

About this lease deal…

About the car…

  • Monthly payments: 24 x £213.38
  • Initial payment: £1,920.42
  • Fees: £294
  • Mileage limit: 5,000 miles
  • List price: £27,405

Anything else I need to know about this deal?

This is a lease deal, often referred to as Personal Contract Hire (PCH), so there’s no option to buy the car at the end of the contract. You are basically renting the car for the two-year term, and while you can play around with the mileage limit, initial payment and the duration of the arrangement, these will all affect the price involved. Once you’ve signed up, you’re locked in, too, and when the deal is over, you just hand the keys back and start looking for your next car.

Our hot deals are carefully selected by our car buying experts and they are all subject to change. Always read the full terms and conditions and make sure the car and the deal suits your needs before proceeding.
