The Volkswagen T-Cross and Tiguan get a new range-topping Black Edition trim
- Stylish new Black Edition trim for T-Cross and Tiguan
- Priced from £29,985 and £46,605
- New 201bhp petrol engine for Tiguan
Volkswagen is ringing in the festive season with a stylish twist for its SUV range. The brand has unveiled new Black Edition trims for its popular T-Cross and Tiguan SUVs, offering a striking blend of elegance and advanced features.
What’s new with the Black Editions?
Sitting above the R-Line trim, the Black Edition versions of the T-Cross and Tiguan bring bold black styling accents to the exterior. The T-Cross rides on 18-inch ‘York’ alloy wheels, while the Tiguan steps up the drama with 20-inch versions. Both models also feature Volkswagen’s IQ.LIGHT Matrix LED headlamps for enhanced visibility, dynamic LED tail lights, and a choice of premium paint finishes, as well as a no-cost ‘Pure White’ option for the T-Cross.

Inside, the Tiguan Black Edition ups the ante with a driver assistance package, bundling advanced safety features such as Lane Assist and Emergency Assist.
Engine options
The T-Cross Black Edition offers two petrol engine choices:
- A 1.0-litre TSI producing 113bhp, available with a manual or DSG automatic gearbox.
- A punchier 1.5-litre TSI engine delivering 148bhp, exclusively paired with DSG.
For the Tiguan Black Edition, buyers can choose between two 2.0-litre TSI engines, both equipped with 4MOTION all-wheel drive and DSG:
- A new-to-the-range 201bhp unit.
- A powerful 261bhp version for those seeking extra performance.
Pricing and availability
The T-Cross Black Edition starts at £29,985, while the Tiguan Black Edition begins at £46,605. Both models will be available to order from 12 December 2024.
In addition, the Tiguan R-Line trim also gains the new 201bhp engine, priced at £45,605.
A growing Black Edition line-up
These latest additions expand Volkswagen UK’s Black Edition range to eight models, joining the Polo, Taigo, T-Roc, Golf, and their sportier R variants. Black Editions have been a hit in recent years with customers looking for models that blend style with road presence, and these new options are set to continue the trend.
The T-Cross, refreshed earlier this year with upgraded tech and a refined interior, has sold over 1.2 million units globally since its launch in 2019. Meanwhile, the Tiguan remains Volkswagen’s best-selling model worldwide. It’s still surpassed by the Golf in the UK, though, which currently sits fifth in the list of the UK’s best-selling cars for 2024.
Carbuyer’s take
Volkswagen’s Black Editions deliver a premium feel without veering too far into luxury pricing. With their sleek aesthetics and range of tech upgrades, they’re set to attract style-conscious SUV buyers who value practicality as much as panache.
