Fiat 500 RED editions launched as part of charity partnership
Both Fiat 500 models and the 500X SUV get red-themed editions, starting from £16,435
- Red features heavily inside and out
- Orders now open
- RED charity fights AIDS and Covid-19
The Fiat 500, Fiat 500C convertible and Fiat 500X are now available as RED special editions, which have been created to support one of the Italian brand’s chosen charities. As the name suggests, the cars are focused around the colour red, both inside and out. On sale now, prices start from £16,435 for the 500 mild-hybrid hatchback.
Besides the standard red paint, the same shade has been applied to the mirror caps, alloy wheel inserts and, for the first time, the Fiat logos. You can choose different paint colours from the options lists for additional cost.
Inside, you’ll find red accents on the dashboard and floor mats, plus on the accelerator pedal on certain models. Unusually, the electric Fiat 500 also gets a red driver’s seat and black passenger seats, although you can choose to have all black or all red with contrasting elements.
On the Fiat 500X SUV, the RED treatment is offered on the standard car and on models with the new Dolcevita fabric roof. It starts at £24,125 if you choose the 1.0-litre engine or £26,775 for Dolcevita versions. Upgrading to the more powerful 1.3-litre engine with an automatic gearbox costs £2,500 on each.
The electric 500 RED starts at £22,995 (after the plug-in car grant) for the smaller battery option. The bigger one, which offers an impressive 199-mile range, starts at £3,000 more, while the convertible is nearly as much again. Buyers of the mild-hybrid 500 convertible, meanwhile, will need to pay at least £19,085.
Co-founded by U2 singer Bono, the RED charity was set up in 2006 to fight AIDS. It now also raises money to combat Covid-19, and $4m (just under £3m) will be pledged to the charity by Fiat, Jeep and RAM over the next three years.
