Generally agree with other owners. If you can live with a small boot and use the massive space in the rear, this is an excellent saloon. I bought mine with 9,000 mies on the clock as an ex-demo in 2017 and have done 40,000 miles in five years. Never had a problem and the only costs have been change of brakes (seem to last longer due to regen braking of electric motor) and one set of rear tyres. Always achieve 99 plus mpg on short trips and 70-80 on longer trips with a full battery. 30 miles on electric only isn’t an issue with the Optima. Standard kit is great and overall sleek looks with automatic grille intake and blue eco banding looks good. Highly recommended as 2016/17 seem to sell for as little as £14-£16K so you can get a great family-sized car for little money! Top marks Kia

Excellent car. Can’t understand why it’s not mentioned in any top ten lists for plugin hybrids. Optima PHEV comes as standard with loads of kit including heated electric driver seat, heated steering wheel, wireless phone charger and premium 10 speaker sound system to name but a few. For trips around less than 30 miles, if you charge the batteries, you use very little fuel. Usually, for longer journeys, you achieve high 80’s mpg. Even in hybrid mode with a flat battery, I’m still achieving 60 plus mpg, which is comparable to a good diesel and amazing considering the size of the car. Space in front and back is class leading and only real limitation is size of boot as its used to store the batteries. However, I now use the back seats to car cargo and can even get an adult cycle minus front wheel in no problem.
This is my first automatic car and can honestly say this is a great piece of kit with an amazing electric/ petrol hybrid that a seamlessly married giving an almost silent, economical and great drive.
