This vehicle is lovely. Big, chunky, powerful, comfortable, actually quite plush with its leather heated seats and cruise control. For a pickup it’s a great drive, and for those who have moaned, it’s not meant to be a sports car! There's massive space in rear for carrying just about anything. And it’s a REAL off road vehicle. What’s not to like? Makes you feel safe driving it too.

Loads of room for the kids, great leg room and higher rear seat giving excellent passenger view. Loads of room in the back for stuff like bikes, tools and so on (I have a cab thingy on it) and it stays dry so long as you remember not to park it facing downhill on a rainy night. Sound system is great for a truck and manual box enjoyable and how it should be. Great turning circle, inevitable tyre wear (due to driving round roundabouts hard) can be minimised by getting the tracking accurate (dealer did this for me) and swapping front tyres round half way through their life. Gear box had a warranty issue with 3rd gear sorted free of charge. Vehicle reliably delivers 31mpg round town on short journeys and will do 42 on the motorway if I can manage to stick to 56 mph but at 70mph it only does about 34 mph. Nice truck. it is what it is. Would buy again. Prefer the manual.

Bought this car with under 25,000 miles on the clock and a year out of warranty. Within 6 months and 10,000 the transition from 2nd to 3rd became difficult and it has got progressively worse. Took it to the dealership, they didn't want to know. Got chatting to the Technician outside, he said this is a common problem with the L200, they repair loads under warranty, but it involves stripping down the gear box which is £1,000 job. Mitsubishi are aware of the problem but refuse to accept that there is a problem. His words not mine! Contacted Mitsubishi, no help whatsoever. Because I bought it used and not from a Mitsubishi dealer and it doesn't have a full Mitsubishi service record I do not qualify for a goodwill gesture, they don't seem to care that their bomb-proof pick up's gear box fails after less than 35,000 miles! Steer clear of the L200, it's no good!

Bought this 2nd hand. Only one owner before. I'm a builder and it's great for what I need. This model has a few extras that the lower model doesn't have. 137,000 miles. Still starts and runs great but...... Too expensive to run. Ticks all the other boxes but fuel. I won't get another bc of that. Had to get a new boost sensor. £191!! Main dealer only.

I had an L200 for about 3 years. It's the best vehicle I've owned. I'm currently thinking of selling my VW to get a new L 200 (diesel 4x4). Reliability is amazing, in 3 years i had not a single problem, just regular oil, sparks and filters. I sold it to my brother in law who uses it for serious work and just he's had to change brake pads for the 2nd time. Granted, its far from luxury, plastics are good quality but feel a bit cheap. Handles like a small saloon, except for the bumpy rear suspension. It handles potholes, speed bumps and gravel like a dream, on several occasions I had to go through roads flooded to about a metre deep and had no issue at all (water covered the bonet!). The headlights are not the best, but I replaced the bulbs for some Philips Extreme Vision and adjusted their aim. It made a day and night difference! Great fuel economy for its size, too.

Bought the Barbarian automatic new in 2012. Just out of 3 year warranty, had problems with overfuelling, and the DPF light came on. Pentraeth Automotive (Mitsubishi dealer in Anglesey, North Wales) wanted £2000 for new DPF, insisting it was 94% full after just 39,000 miles, despite no appreciable drop in performance. Took it elsewhere and was told there was a recall on the engine management unit which affected the airflow sensor. I had to ask the dealer to deal with the outstanding recall, but they still wanted to sell me a £2000 DPF. Took it elsewhere and initiated a forced regeneration cycle, no more DPF light!! This is my third L200, and it will definitely be the last. There are just too many quality problems, and too many recalls (if they remember to inform you) 2,000 miles further down the line, it is now overfuelling again, the oil level is creeping up the dipstick. Maybe there's another recall they haven't told me about.

My second L200 (previously owned Warrior version.) In 5 years is yet to fail (not even a light bulb). Very reliable and comfortable for a utility vehicle. Good backup from the local dealership. Bridgestone tyres lasted about 35k miles and wore unevenly on front pair (outside edge nearside, inside edge offside). In my opinion the L200 is the one to choose if you're after a quality, every day use pick up.

Bought this vehicle with next to no miles on it, and 11 months old, its never been off road and only just done 25,000 miles. Have had the foot rails replaced as they just rusted completely (a common fault), this was done under warranty, (they re-used the plastic bits from the old rails too). There is a lot of rust under the vehicle, poor for its age, which I'm sure will cause a lot more problems in the future. That's if I keep it, the tyres have worn badly on the outside of nearside, but also inside of driver's side too. Dealership says it's normal. Other cars don't do it, so sort it out. Reversing camera doesn't come on sometimes, have had the screen repaired on the sat nav/radio/cd player as it just kept jamming, and here's the best one: 3rd gear won't engage when changing down, took it back and the main dealer, but they just don't want to know, this started happening when it was under warranty, but when I took it to them, it was just out, so they expect me now to pay £885 to get it fixed! These are supposed to be bomb-proof, my boy's Peugeot 206 is a much more reliable car! Main dealer says its not a common problem, but when I stared asking around, you guessed it......loads of people have the same problem! My verdict, don't buy one, needs a lot to be desired, and the aftersales, well, even worse, there is no aftersales, so be it on your own head if you buy, its going to cost you a lot of money keeping it on the road!

This is my second L200, I bought a new Raging Bull (auto) back in October 2008, owned it for four years and never had any problems. So when the time came to replace the Raging Bull, I bought a new Barbarian (auto). I've owned the truck for a year, done 7000 miles in it and have had no problems apart from one..... FUEL ECONOMY! My Raging Bull would average 28 mpg but my new Barbarian is averaging 20 mpg which has been confirmed by the dealer. The truck has been back for the ECU recall but is still guzzling fuel.

Front near side tyre is wearing on the outer edge, shockingly one main dealer told me " they all do it, going round roundabouts in this country doesn't help, swap the tyres around !. I found this explanation unsatisfactory so I called another main dealer who said it is properly the suspension and needs to be checked.

Numerous recalls - poor 4yrs old rusting already - significant manufacturer doesn't care Broken leaf spring at 30'000 - common fault - poor show at that mileage. Car does all thats expected and more but aftersales lets it down and the above faults means i am having serious doubts about replacing it with another mitsubishi when the time comes.
