The new 2014 Mercedes C-Class: Everything you need to know
The new Mercedes C-Class, expected in 2014, will be updated after the recent refreshes for the S-Class and A-Class models. The new Mercedes C-Class will feature a larger badge and a new, wider grille to make it fit in with the looks of the rest of the manufacturer's range. The new Mercedes rivals the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4.
Read on for everything you need to know about the new Mercedes C-Class 2014.
Mercedes C-Class 2014 release date
The new Mercedes C-Class will likely be unveiled for the first time at the start of 2014, possibly in January at the Detroit Motor Show. It seems likely that if that's the case then we could see it released as soon as summer 2014 in the UK, both as a saloon and as a more practical and spacious estate.
Mercedes C-Class 2014 price
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class that you can buy from a showroom today is priced from £26,275, and since that’s more expensive than its big rival the BMW 3 Series, we don't expect it to cost that much more when the updated version is launched. For the entry-level C180 SE petrol model we think buyers will be putting down around £26,500.
New Mercedes C-Class estate, convertible and coupe
Mercedes will also bring out estate, coupe and convertible models of the new C-Class for those seeking practicality, good looks or summer fun. The new C-Class estate, which will add a longer and higher rear end to create much more boot space, will most likely come out in 2014 at the same time as the saloon version.
The coupe will probably be revealed in 2015, a year after the standard version, and the cabriolet will follow soon after if it isn't released at the same time as the coupe. The convertible model will replace the discontinued Mercedes CLK, and will feature either a fabric or folding metal roof. We think the fabric option is likely as it saves weight and wil be cheaper to produce. Rivalling the Audi A3 cabriolet and BMW 2 Series converible, prices could start at around £30,000.
New Mercedes C-Class 2014 specs
The new C-Class will feature a range of efficient and powerful petrol and diesel engines, and should also include a plug-in hybrid model, rivalling the Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid and the Lexus IS 300h. An extreme Mercedes C63 AMG model will also be available later on next year, with a V8 petrol engine producing over 450bhp and costing around £56,000.
The new 2014 Mercedes C-Class will probably have the same specifications as the old model: Executive SE, AMG Sport and AMG Sport Plus. Air-conditioning, sat-nav and Bluetooth will all be included in the new car, options could include a traffic-detecting camera and a system that can automatically take the car through traffic jams.
