New Skoda Fabia Estate pictures
Pictures of the new Skoda Fabia Estate have leaked onto the Internet
Pictures have leaked of the new Skoda Fabia Combi estate ahead of its official Paris Motor Show debut later this week. It gets the same sharp looks as the new Skoda Fabia hatchback and is set to boast class-leading boot capacity.
The Fabia Combi will have the same dashboard as the new hatchback, with better-quality plastics than the current model and cleaner looks thanks to the addition of a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The current model’s 505-litre boot is going to get even bigger to offer much more luggage space than cars from the class above (the Volkswagen Golf hatchback holds 380 litres, for example). Total capacity with the rear seats folded down is likely to exceed 1,500 litres.
Skoda has also added what it calls ‘simply clever’ features. These are designed to make the car easier to live with day-to-day, and include things such as nets on the side of the front seats for extra storage and a place to store a high-visibility vest. The interior rubbish bin is new, as is the ice scraper stored in the fuel filler cap. The car’s rear door pockets can carry a small bottle of water, while the glovebox can take a larger 1.5-litre container.
Also falling under the ‘simply clever’ banner is the MirrorLink infotainment system, which can integrate with smartphone apps and mirror the display on your phone's screen.
Engines will be carried over from the Fabia hatchback. They include two versions of the three-cylinder 1.0-litre petrol engine fitted to the Skoda Citigo and Volkswagen Polo, developing 59bhp and 74bhp. There are also a couple of 1.4-litre diesel engines, including the ultra-economical GreenLine, which should be capable of around 90mpg and will be exempt from road tax.
