Lexus GS F blasts in with 467bhp
The Lexus GS F promises 467bhp and a 0-62mph time of around 4.5 seconds
The Lexus GS F will rival the BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 AMG when it goes on sale in Europe late in 2015.
The 467bhp super saloon will be shown at the Detroit Motor Show next week, and will become the fastest version of the Lexus GS saloon yet.
Although no performance details have been revealed, it's likely the GS F will provide a 0-62mph time of around 4.5 seconds and a top speed of more than 170mph.
Lexus promises the “speed and agility of a premium sports car” with a rear-wheel drive layout and a grip and stability-enhancing torque vectoring system. This can operate in three modes, including Slalom for ultimate agility and Track, which is designed to increase stability at high speed.
The 5.0-litre V8 doesn’t use a turbo or supercharger (like the BMW M5 or Mercedes E63 AMG) and channels power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox, which features a manual shift function.
Lexus has strengthened the chassis and the GS F uses a suspension system developed specifically for this performance version. Lexus says the GS F will be a “very balanced saloon with a genuine dual personality, equally adept at trimming lap times as it is making the commute back home”.
