Posher than a Rolls-Royce? Maybach's £370,000 limo
S600 Pullman is new range-topper from Mercedes' luxury brand
Starting at around £370,000, and with an almost infinite list of optional extras, the S600 Pullman will become the top-of-the-range Mercedes S-Class and one of the most exclusive cars on UK roads. Unusually for a modern vehicle, it's been designed for chauffeurs – the whole car revolves around the passenger compartment, where the buyer can expect to sit in unrivalled comfort.
The four rear seats are arranged to face each other. This format is like that of a London black cab, but that's where the similarities end – exquisite upholstery and superb craftsmanship set the Maybach apart from mere limos. The whole interior is expected to be covered in leather.
The mechanics of the car haven't been neglected, though. This massive machine is powered by a 6.0-litre V12 engine that produces 530hp – a necessary amount of power considering the Maybach's huge weight. Mercedes-Maybach has revealed that the Pullman will be 6.5 metres long and 1.6 metres tall.
Maybach has been the car manufacturer of choice for VIPs, governments and royal families the world over, thanks in part to the wide range of armour-plating options that are available for the brand's vehicles. Unsurprisingly, production runs and sales of these cars are miniscule – the amount of attention lavished on this sort of machine far exceeds that of an ordinary, mass-produced car.
And that £370,000 price tag is just the start. Maybach has stated that this is for the unarmoured version – if you're the kind of person that gets driven around in a 6.5-metre Maybach limousine, you're probably more worried than the rest of us about the bullet-proof qualities of your door panels.
