Land Rover Discovery Commercial priced from £48k

New van version of the Land Rover Discovery on sale now

The Land Rover Discovery is making a return to the van market, with the launch of the Discovery Commercial. It’s available to order now, priced from £48,695 and the first deliveries will be made in the spring.

Land Rover has removed the second and third rows of seats to free up 1,856 litres of load space, accessible through a powered tailgate. The Commercial retains the standard car’s powered inner tailgate to make loading large and bulky items easier.

Concealment panels replace the rear side windows for added security, but they appear heavily tinted from the outside, making the Commercial model virtually indistinguishable from the passenger car to the untrained observer. The cargo compartment measures 1,635mm long, 939mm high and 1,411mm wide and the boot aperture can accept loads as big as 1,000mm by 735mm. There’s under-floor storage, as well as access points space under what would ordinarily be the rear seats.

The Commercial is available with Jaguar Land Rover’s 2.0-litre SD4 and 3.0-litre TD6 diesel engines, which produce 238 and 256bhp respectively. It shares its mechanical components with the standard car – which is Carbuyer’s reigning Best Large SUV.

The Discovery Commercial is only available with four-wheel drive – optimised through Land Rover’s Terrain Response system – and an automatic gearbox. It also boasts air suspension and a full-size spare wheel.

It also features Land Rover’s InControl Touch Pro infotainment system as standard, along with a full suite of safety kit, including cruise control and a speed limiter, hill-start assistance, roll stability control and trailer assistance.

Jaguar Land Rover UK MD Jeremy Hicks said: “Discovery Commercial has always been a key part of the Discovery line-up since the Discovery 1, but the latest version brings new levels of practicality, versatility and premium levels of comfort that showcase the vehicle’s hard-working DNA.”
