2020 Lexus RX revealed
Biggest Lexus SUV gets a minor styling update, new safety tech and chassis upgrades
Lexus has revealed a refreshed version of its flagship RX SUV. Changes include updated exterior styling, new safety tech, redesigned seating and an updated chassis. Available in both five and seven-seat variants, the new model will arrive in UK dealerships this autumn. Pricing has yet to be confirmed.
The facelifted RX gets a mild exterior redesign with restyled front and rear bumpers, new side skirts, new headlights and tail lights and a new rear diffuser.

The updated RX is the first model in the Lexus range to feature the firm’s new BladeScan adaptive LED headlights. These beam light onto a pair of rotating blade-shaped mirrors, which are then aimed towards the road through a lens. Lexus claims this system offers improved visibility for the driver without dazzling other road users.
Inside, Lexus has added a new touchscreen infotainment system that adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with voice control functionality. In the seven-seat model, the third row of seats has been redesigned with an additional setting that offers more legroom for the rearmost passengers.
All RX models can only be specced with a single petrol engine - a 3.5-litre V6 with a hybrid powertrain that produces 308bhp. This engine pushes power to all four wheels via a CVT automatic gearbox, resulting in a 0-62mph time of 7.7 seconds and a claimed fuel economy figure of 54.3mpg.
Further revisions to the RX include new suspension, stiffer anti-roll bars and body shell reinforcement to improve the cars structural rigidity. Lexus has also revised the power steering and Active Cornering Assist system, with the changes helping to improve the cars handling characteristics and reduce understeer.
Updates to the new RX also include the firm’s latest safety technology, with road sign assist, radar-controlled adaptive cruise control and a pre-collision system that’s capable of detecting pedestrians even at night.
