New Citroen Holidays is a £57k campervan with a not-so-subtle name
The new Citroen Holidays campervan is soon to go on sale in the UK from £56,590
- New Citroen-official campervan
- Kitchen and sleeping space for four
- Prices start from £56,590
We may be approaching the end of summer, but pricing has just been revealed for the Citroen Holidays, its new manufacturer-official campervan. As the name suggests, this is a van designed for road trip getaways, with a small kitchen, a pop-up roof and room to sleep four. Prices start from £56,590, with the first deliveries expected later in the year.
What do I need to know about the Citroen Holidays?
The new Citroen Holidays is designed for – you guessed it – holidays. The French marque has partnered with Brava Mobil, a Slovenian van conversion specialist, to kit out its newly-facelifted Citroen SpaceTourer MPV with all the goodies you need for a camping adventure. The interior has been remodelled with cabinets, a small kitchen unit, a pop-up roof and more to convert it into a fully-fledged campervan, much like the new Volkswagen California and Ford Transit Custom Nugget.
All Holidays get the pop-up roof as standard, which creates an elevated sleeping space for two. The sliding bench in the rear can be converted into an additional sleeping space for two people or it can be removed completely to create more storage space for big items like surfboards or bikes.
Of course, a camping trip wouldn’t be complete without a morning fry up (or vegan alternative), so the Citroen Holidays is fitted with a small kitchen unit. It features two gas burners – one more than the VW California – a sink and a 16-litre fridge. The kitchen unit can be entirely removed, too, for more internal space or for outdoor cooking. Both the front passenger and driver seat swivel 180-degrees, creating a more sociable interior space.
There’s a separate electrical system to power the fridge and two USB-A sockets in the rear, rechargeable either through an external 230V power supply or via the roof-mounted solar panel. A Webasto heating system, monitored via a control panel, should allow brave campers to hit the road year-round.
The front of the cabin is carried over from the regular SpaceTourer, with a new 10-inch infotainment touchscreen and a digital driver’s display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity come fitted as standard, along with a rear-view camera and adaptive cruise control.
There’s only one engine on offer – a 2.0-litre diesel with 177bhp, connected to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Unlike the VW California, there’s no petrol or plug-in hybrid here, and Citroen won’t offer a Holidays campervan based on the electric e-SpaceTourer.
How much does the Citroen Holidays cost and when can I buy one?
Prices for the Citroen Holidays start from £56,590, which should significantly undercut the VW California’s expected price tag of around £65,000. Order books open later this summer, with first UK deliveries scheduled for later in the year.
