Vauxhall Mokka Coffe-e puts the EV in beverage with onboard espresso machine
Coffee-themed concept car from Vauxhall ensures you’ll never be more than two paces away from a fresh brew
- One-off coffee-themed concept car
- Based on the Vauxhall Mokka Electric
- Onboard espresso machine
Coffee lovers, cancel your Pret subscriptions – the Vauxhall Mokka Coffe-e is the newest hot item aimed squarely at caffeine enthusiasts. Based on the Vauxhall Mokka Electric, the Coffe-e is more than just the usual limited-edition trim level with new wheels and a fresh coat of paint. Vauxhall has doubled-down on the Mokka name and fitted it with an onboard coffee making station, complete with an espresso machine, coffee grinder and fridge, so drivers can pull over and pour themselves a warm beverage whenever they please.
What do I need to know about the Vauxhall Mokka Coffe-e?
A study by Vauxhall has revealed that 75% of electric car drivers choose their charging stops based on whether they’re able to buy a coffee or not. Spotting a gap in the market, the British marque has fitted its small electric SUV with a complete coffee-making station, so drivers will never be without a caffeinated beverage wherever they choose to recharge.
A coffee cup badge on the bootlid gives a hint as to what’s inside; open it up, and you’ll find a custom Alcantara-lined cabinet housing the coffee grinder, mini fridge and knock box. A table for preparing your coffee slides out underneath, along with a drawer to house all of your Barista equipment. There’s even room for a pair of fancy Fox umbrellas, perfect for drizzle protection when brewing.
There are two separate coffee machines, one for ground coffee and one for pods, but neither would be much use without the coffee beans to start with. Thankfully, Vauxhall has thought ahead, and developed its own range of coffee blends in partnership with Cafeology, an award-winning coffee roaster. The six flavours are named after the Mokka’s six paint options, but don’t expect the colour of your coffee to match your car.
Can I buy a Vauxhall Mokka Coffe-e?
Unfortunately not; the Mokka Coffe-e is destined to remain a concept car for coffee lovers to fantasise about. Instead, the regular Mokka Electric is due for a mid-life facelift soon, bringing new headlights and some interior updates, too.
