Volkswagen to update ID range with more kit and new trim levels
ID.3, ID.4 and ID.5 electric cars set for a minor specification update this month, including a new battery option
- Updates to ID.3, ID.4 and ID.5 models
- New smaller, cheaper battery option
- On sale from 21 November 2024
Volkswagen has announced some new trim levels, prices and more equipment for its electric-only ID range, which includes the ID.3 hatchback, ID.4 SUV and ID.5 coupe-SUV. This small range update also includes some new entry-level models with a smaller battery and a lower entry price.
The ID.3 hatchback model will be available with two new trim levels: Pure Essential and Pure Match. Both are available with the new battery, which is a 52kWh unit with a range of around 240 miles. It uses an electric motor with 168bhp and can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 25 minutes using a 145kW rapid charge point.
The new trim levels on the ID.3 cost £30,850 and £32,210 respectively. The former Essential trim is the base model but the Match version brings 18-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, sat-nav, climate control, a rear-view camera and tinted windows.
The Pure Match trim will also be updated in the Volkswagen ID.4 range, getting a price reduction of over £3,000 to £39,550. It also comes with a new set of 19-inch alloys, but no other changes. There’s a new GTX Edition for the ID.4 range, though, and this trim will also come to the ID.5 line-up as well.
GTX Edition builds on the existing GTX trim, using the same 335bhp electric motor set-up and costs £52,205 and £53,705 for the ID.4 and ID.5 respectively. The new trim adds metallic paint, a 360-degree camera, a power tailgate, parking assist technology, ergonomic comfort seats with a massage function and some other safety tech.
Pure Match has also been added to the ID.5 range and will cost £41,050 there, where it comes with the same entry-level 52kWh battery as the ID.3 (above), although the range here is around 222 miles because the car is slightly bigger and heavier. The ID.5 Pure Match also comes with 19-inch alloys and all the same kit as the ID.3 version: heated front seats, sat-nav, climate control, a rear-view camera and tinted windows.
The new models will be available to order from 21 November this year.
