Skoda Octavia vRS: first pictures
The first pictures of the sporty Skoda Octavia vRS have leaked on to the internet.
The first photos of the new Skoda Octavia vRS, the hot version of the brand’s new family hatchback, have been leaked onto the Internet.
They show Skoda’s alternative to its VW Group parent company’s Golf GTI hot hatchback undisguised for the first time.
Although not of outstanding quality, the pictures clearly show the third-generation Skoda Octavia vRS’ more aggressive styling. On show is a revised front end with LED daytime running lights, propeller-style alloy wheels with red-painted brake calipers and larger square exhausts, all designed to emphasise the new Skoda’s sportiness.
The engine in the Skoda Octavia vRS is the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine as will be used in the upcoming VW Golf GTI, with power up 20bhp from today’s model to an impressive 217bhp. Prices are expected to start from about £22,000, compared with the Golf’s estimated £28,000 price tag.
The line-up is also expected to contain a 2.0-litre diesel, providing a rival to the VW Golf GTD, as well as saloon and estate versions and a choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed double-clutch gearboxes.
