Skoda Octavia estate revealed

The new Skoda Octavia estate is 90mm longer and 45mm wider than its predecessor. The wheelbase has grown by almost 110mm, making it the most spacious Octavia Estate that the company has ever built.

The boot also sets a new record for its class, with 610 litres of space – that’s 20 litres more than in the Octavia hatchback. Folding the rear seat backrests down increases the total boot space of the Octavia Estate to 1,740 litres – 160 litres more than the hatchback.

Like the hatchback, practical features of the Octavia estate include a double-sided boot floor mat, comprehensive net restraint system, multiple bag hooks, a waste bin and numerous bottle holders.

There is also an ice scraper built into the fuel tank filler cap and a warning-vest holder under the driver’s seat.

In addition, the Estate includes extra handy features, such as a coat rack and a remote fold-down function for the rear-seat backrest. You can also fold the front passenger seat down flat, to make transporting long objects easy, and there is storage for the parcel shelf under the boot floor.

The estate will be available with the same range of engines as the hatchback, and the usual three Skoda equipment levels of S, SE and Elegance are expected. Adaptive Cruise Control, a high-beam assistant – which automatically dips the main beam of the headlights when an oncoming vehicle is detected – and fatigue detection will also be available on some models.

An efficient Octavia estate Greenline, with CO2 emissions around 90g/km, will arrive later in the year, but the core Octavia estate range will go on sale shortly after its debut in Geneva, with prices starting from around £17,000.
