The Peugeot 3008 HYbrid 4 was the first diesel-electric hybrid to be offered on sale in the UK.
However, six months after launching ut, Peugeot has updated the hybrid to make it even more efficient. The hybrid system, which couples a 163bhp diesel engine with a 37bhp electric motor is unchanged.
However, improvements to the electronics that control how the car uses its batteries mean that it now returns a claimed 80.7mpg and emits 91g/km of CO2, when fitted with 16-inch, low-rolling resistance tyres. This compares to the current model’s 74.4mpg and 99g/km
When larger wheel and tyre combinations are fitted, the 3008 Hybrid 4 emits 99g/km, down from 104g/km, making the entire range tax exempt.
The updated Peugeot 3008 HYbrid 4 will be displayed at the Paris Motor Show in September, and go on sale in the UK shortly afterwards.
