Audi A4 S line Nav
The Audi A4 S line offers some serious kerbside appeal and increases the visual impact of the standard car. Just make sure you're happy with the firm suspension.
Although cheaper models are available, many Audi A4 buyers find themselves drawn to the A4 S Line and it's not hard to see why. Audi trades heavily on its brand image and nowhere is this more evident than in its S line models.
The Audi A4 S line looks sportier than lesser models in the range thanks to attractive alloy wheels, a subtle bodykit and suspension that makes the car sit slightly lower than the standard version. It's the latter that makes the S line's sporty position in the range clearest.
Although the suspension also makes the car corner that little bit better, you may well find the ride is too firm. Luckily, you can ask your dealer to swap it for the standard suspension setup at no extra cost. We'd recommend trying an S line and an SE model back-to-back to see which you prefer.
There's a wide choice of S line models, which are available as an A4 saloon or A4 Avant estate. You can also pick from a line-up of smooth petrols and efficient diesels, as well as choosing two or four-wheel drive and an automatic or manual gearbox, too.
Good points
The A4 S line looks great and offers all the appeal you'd expect of a car carrying the Audi badge. There are plenty of sporty touches inside and out, with no shortage of S line badges just in case you forget for a moment that you're in an upmarket A4.The engine range is superb and with the option of saloon, estate, four-wheel drive and automatic models, there's something for everyone.
Bad points
It's worth remembering that no A4 emits less than 100g/km of CO2, so you'll have to pay road tax whichever model you choose. That means it could be more expensive to buy and run than a comparable BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class or Jaguar XE – for both private buyers and company car drivers. The BMW 3 Series and Jaguar XE are better to drive and the Mercedes C-Class has a nicer interior.

Our choice
All of the Audi A4 S line's engines are good, but the 2.0-litre TDI Ultra is the standout. It provides excellent performance while promising more than 67mpg.
