So far the Audi TT has been fine,one cold morning it took an age to start and then idled badly. I hadn't driven the car or over two weeks and after an hour the car was working fine.

Easy to drive & live with. Needs a boot tidy as standard - everything slides around & is not easily 'wedge-able'. Great sounding, strong engine, predictable handling, poor ride quality / damping on b/c roads (not nearly as good as my previous puma). Great image - get lots of positive comments. Not really a sporty car, more a grand tourer. Not as engaging as i'd hoped.

Good qualty materials, gets looked at a lot, mpg does not live up to book mpg, servicing times nd costs are not very clear from the dealer.

Very pleased with it. Have had to be resued twice because of blow outs and no spare wheel only a gel pump thing which is useless. No car should be made without a full size spare wheel.

I enjoy putting reviews on Carbuyer about cars I've owned over the years so this review of the Audi TT roadster may come as a surprise. This was the first car I spent a large chunk of money on. A three year old Mk2 roadster from a Audi main dealer. I was so excited about owning this car that the reality of ownership just didn't live up to my expectations. Firstly the positive. The roof folds down quickly and on the move. The exhaust sounds good. The build quality and use of materials is both pleasing to look at and touch. Acceleration is brisk but not blistering. The car looks the business both roof up or down. Now the negative. I owned an immaculate Alfa Romeo GTV which I cherished and traded in for the TT. After about four weeks I longed for my Alfa back. Why? You ask. The Audi was boring. Even though the Alfa was a old design in comparison it excited you when driving. It had charm and character. It growled and and begged to be driven. The Audi was clinical and precise about everything it did but never made you feel as though you could have a good time. Rather like having a supermodel as a girlfriend but all she wanted to do was play scrabble. Hey I like scrabble but I can think of more exciting things to do. Even though build quality looked good on face value I had the car go back several times for squeaks and rattles. Also a broken roof and an issue with the engine starting and a problem with the fuel cap tarnishing. The dealer was very poor and I naively believed because I had spent a lot of money on a three year old car from a so called premium brand that I would be looked after like a prince after sales. All in all a huge disappointment and the Sat nav couldn't find its way out of a cupboard never mind guide you to the sea side. The TT also drank oil and had to be topped up about every three weeks. A friend of mine owns an A5 with the same motor which went to the engine graveyard in the sky after eighty thousand miles due to some oil problem. Luckily for him Audi UK agreed to help repair. I wouldn't have another that's for sure.

This is my second TT and both have been a pleasure to own. Only slight niggle was a loose inspection cover that had to be replaced after we noticed an increased amount of road noise a week after we picked up the car. Surprisingly economical, good value for money and 18 months without a single problem.

Flat tyre - temporary repair carried out by rac (as part of the 'audi assistance' warranty), then fixed fully at local ats garage.

Changing from merc slk to audi tt i was very pleasantly surprised at the level of comfort and driveability of the tt over the slk. On long journeys (glasgow - southampton) i arrived refreshed and having enjoyed the experience, enhanced by a good sound system, quiet ambient noise level and smooth response fron the engine.

Very pleased at first but a few minor warranty issues made very difficult by a poor after care, having to rake time off of work to take my car to the garage then collecting it with only some of the warranty work done, a good car let down by poor aftercare. Should have stated with a japanese manufactured car, they dont break in the first place!
