The first (and last) Peugeot I will ever have. Have sold it within one year. The engine and gearbox just do not seem to match, sending constant vibrations through the steering wheel, and being totally unresponsive. Couple this with its ability to seek every slight imperfection in the road surface, sending a weird droning or vibrating sensation through the entire car. The worst car I have ever had.

I love the car generally, It's comfy and looks great and runs smoothly. It's nice to drive. But at less than 2 years old my clutch is already extremely high, my left front speaker has blown, my traction control warning light is on sporadically and the Mirrorlink doesn't work with my phone (I've tried 3 compatible phones). The 1 year / 40,000 miles warranty given on the clutch suggests to me Peugeot know they use rubbish parts. The fuel economy is disappointing but I'm used to a diesel. Overall, it's a nice car but I can tell it's going to be costly to run.

When I chose the 2008, I loved the look and its interior appealed to me as simplistic, not overkill with Knight Rider qualities and spacious to meet my needs. However, since owning the vehicle, I have been an unfortunate owner of continued problems. The first point to raise is the steering quality. It takes a little getting used to as test driving on 30 mph roads does not demonstrate to difficulty of keeping your steering wheel straight as the "all weather" tyres make steering very stiff and you can end up snaking on straight roads above 40mph. There is also continued overheating from the operating system if you use Bluetooth and your heater for more than 20 minutes and it all shuts down mid drive and randomly reboots! This is apparently a manufacturing fault and an update is available. Please note this update takes the dealership a day to download do make sure they have it before you car goes in. There is a most annoying door panel "fart" if you have you volume above 16 (it goes upto 30) and your Base at 50% or higher. So if you enjoy quality music, then this car is not for you. The cup holders are absolutely useless and France must only dispense liquid beverages in regular cans or small take out coffee cups as that's all that fit. Removing drinks from the holder is like a challenge on the Krypton Factor! Finally, driving at more than 40mph with the drivers window slightly lowered causes a loud hissing of wind from the rear passenger door and is a fault they cannot correct. Today was visit number 5 to the dealership and it needs to be returned again. At point of writing this, it's mid December and the vehicle was a September 1st 67 plate.

Although pleased with the vehicle. The (ECO) Stop/Start does not work and Peugeot dealer cannot fix the problem, says it could be any of 30 faults.

I have not had much luck with my 2008 crossover, top specification and so lovely to drive. I have had faults with the electrics, the car is not yet two years old, the heating system has now burnt out. I have traded it in for Peugeot 308 Blue HDi GT 5dr Automatic. The front brakes had to be changed just under six months. The dealer said, "these things happen". Oh the satnav was not up-to-date, I was told that I would have to pay over £190 to have it updated, this was after 8 months.

Brilliant car - I've had it from new. The engine has plenty of power and it returns excellent economy figures - I average 55mpg commuting in varied traffic, including significant queues. Inside, it's large, comfortable and there's lots of tech. No problems for me with the small steering wheel or the view of the dials.

I have the Active 1.2lt, the car looks great, that's about it the rest is downhill. I have had on-going problems with the brakes grinding from new and eventually after three visits to my dealer, the back discs and pad were replaced. I am currently still in communication with Peugeot UK regarding the same problem with the front brakes. The response back from Peugeot UK has been dreadful so much so I am contemplating going straight to their HO in France regarding their UK lack of support. I would not recommend the 1.2 lt petrol engine as it is very noisy and rough the gearbox is also very notchy and feels old fashioned. There is excessive wind noise coming from the side and more unusually the front of the car. Inside the car is comfortable and I like the new driving position but with no cup holders and CD it is a bit of a let down. I have covered 1800 miles and the computer is showing 45 MPG well short of the 57 MPG as advertised by Peugeot.

Have been pleasantly surprised by the performance from the 1.2 three cylinder engine and it's getting even better as the engine loosens up. The ride is very secure around twisty bends and on most road surfaces which inspires confidence. The seats are very comfortable and hold firmly. So far no squeaks or rattles, very well put together. Looking forward to many years of trouble free motoring.

Very disappointed. I understood that the car was the GT Line (top of the range version) but it is very basic. The specification sheet/ handbook says that there are heated seats as standard but they are not fitted. The ride is very hard and almost Mk1 Land Rover. In fact it is so rough that you cannot set the touch screen icons to set the radio or GPS when the car is moving. The rear view mirrors are not heated and the air con will not clear the windscreen or windows when they mist up. The dash and seats are very plastic and rough nylon seat covering. Can't work out how to switch on the fog lights as the stalk control is very "fiddly" and with the car bouncing about in motion are difficult to set. I compare the car with a 1970s Lada in the quality of fittings and assembly. Very agricultural and to cap it all the brakes pull to the right/ kerb side. A nasty, rough and uncomfortable car - avoid.

The car looks good especially in the Ultimate Red paintwork, but generally a disappointing car. We have other Peugeots in the family, a 208 and a 308 so we thought that the 2008 would be up to standard. Regrettably, no it's not. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is noisy and rough and vibrations are felt through the steering wheel on acceleration. General build quality is not good and there are several rattles already. The car wanders a little at higher speeds, the glove box is tiny and the rear parcel shelf is extremely annoying. Good points? Stylish and economical.

A very nice car to drive but my main gripe is that I've needed three set of shock absorbers in three years, and the dealer is saying they're not covered under warranty. Gremlins have also hit the radio which doesn't tune in properly. Sorriest move I ever made was buy one of these.

I have had this car for nearly two years, there was 4,000 miles on it when I got it and 20,000 now. This is the 92 BHP model but it makes more than sufficient progress for what I want it to do.You would think that the motor was more powerful than the 92 horses stated! Fuel consumption is amazing, day to day use comes up around 60. A typical journey 7/10 miles with next to no sitting in traffic to 75/80 on long motorway trips of 200 miles plus. Very very good, I know, and I can only tell you what the trip computer comes up with. Currently 64 MPG average on over 4000 miles traveled. Stop start is annoying and I tend to switch it off, the engine can just cut out when you are parking up In the car park for instance. I hate it. Only one thing has gone wrong so far, but the fault did not stop the car and it was quickly sorted by the local main dealer over a year ago. It has most of the toys, the handbook says this has an adblue tank in the boot but on investigation it does not so must be manufactured just before they introduced this mod. I don't like the rear mirror automatically dimming, all you can see in the dark is the car's headlights. So is it a car with one headlight out or a motorbike? Overall it's a great little car with lots of toys and so far (touch wood) it has been very reliable. I've not had cause to use the driving mode dial yet so cannot report on this one way or the other.

I'm not a person who gets excited about cars anymore. I was looking for a crossover type car and quite liked the Mitsubishi ASX. Out of the blue I received an email offering me a very good deal on a 2008. I checked the car out and purchased it was delivered on 2nd September. Once I adjusted the tyre pressures which were way too high the ride became better. I like most features of the car, I like the small steering wheel that most people criticize although it does tend to block the central digital readout a little. The seating is comfortable, plenty of room for rear set passengers (my car doesn't have a sunroof) the internal lighting is nice. There is plenty of room in the back for shopping etc but probably the most annoying thing is Peugeot decided to economise by not having 2 pieces of string to lift the parcel shelf up, you have to lift folding shelf up, the trouble is you forget to put it down get in car to drive off and have restricted view through rear window. The tailgate is very heavy to close and is fairly high, my wife who is 4ft 10in has trouble closing it due to height and weight. I don't know if it's typical of this class of Vehicle but it has High door seals you have to step over to get in. It's a nice car to drive not exciting but pleasant. All in all I'm happy with my purchase, had no problems although I find the gearbox a little whiny and would recommend to anybody buying this class of vehicle.

Fuel economy is top-class: I have quite a few country lanes and lots of hills, so 58mpg average fuel economy is excellent. On the motorway it can top 80mpg when treated carefully (around 60mph). Very smooth and comfortable, classy cabin and loads of good features on the Allure trim. Diesel performance is very impressive. There's only one small point: the difference between 2nd and 3rd gear is quite large, so you need to take care when performing that change and if you tend to spend a lot of time between the two it may not be ideal - other gearchanges are easy to make silky-smooth.

I saw the car advertised in a French magazine in 2013, thought it looked very nice, so bought it last March. It did not disappoint. The interior is stylish, although it lacks a CD player. I put a memory stick with my music on it in the USB slot, it could only pick a couple of tracks. The car is very comfortable, and being small I find it brilliant as you have a higher driving position. I also like the small steering wheel. The boot is a decent size for a compact car. It is good fuel wise, there is no car tax as it is a diesel. I am sure I could get more out of it if I drove a bit more economically. Which brings me to the stop/start mode, which I am not keen on, I am not certain it saves on fuel, as if you put your foot on the brake for a second, the engine stops. Imagine yourself going to work, stuck in traffic for one hour, the engine stops about 50 times! However, touch wood, I have not had any problem and the car is now nearly a year old. This is my favourite car of all the ones I have owned.

It drives very well but is horrendous on fuel, only returning 34 mpg on average, very small boot, no CD player, all the electrics shut down when you are sitting in the car after around 40 minutes (eco mode), can not even plug in a radio or CD to the auxiliary port as this shuts down as well. There are no inside handles to help you in or out of the car. The door pull sticks in to your right leg, very very disappointed. Had new Peugeots for the last seventeen years but this will be my last.

My 2008 is good on fuel and drives well. However, I've had a few unexpected repairs. I had to replace both shock absorbers after 23,000 miles. Wheel alignment and DPF cleaning were required after 50,000 miles.

130 bhp from a 1.2 litres is very impressive so I went for petrol this time. I Tried various small-engined cars and this wins hands down! I looked the the Ford and Nissan rivals, both felt OK if driving alone but were very poor with passengers on board. I like the 6 speed gearbox and the fuel consumption is very good. It has 17-inch alloys, all season tyres and grip control so it should be good in the snow, I don't think there's any need for a 4 x4 in the UK anyway! It's very comfortable, I love the small steering wheel. The boot is a very good size & contains a full size spare wheel, not like many rivals who now supply a can of gunk and inflator, try using that on anything other than a slow puncture & you will realise it's useless, plus you may need a new tyre!

So far so good – after after a couple of months there have been no problems as yet. Theres plenty of power. One disappointment is are the lack of certain features I enjoyed in my previous 308SW SE. There's No CD player, no door 'grab handles', no decent-sized glovebox (so there's nowhere convenient to keep the manuals) and that 'slimmed down' interior feeling in the pursuit of profits. However there are some nice touches too. The mood lighting at night is excellent. There's Sat Nav built in (although this has never been updated) and you can choose to turn annoying features off (Eco start drives me nuts). I also appreciate the long 16k or annual service intervals and £20 road tax. All in all I'm pretty pleased so far. I'll be taking it to my friendly Peugeot dealer in France for servicing as even with the ferry fare it's half the UK servicing price.

After looking around for a car to suit my wife and my self we settled on the 2008. I knew what spec I wanted for us so took time to test drive a few at different garages, settling on our Silver 2008 in the end. Fantastic comfy car, plenty of space for me being 6ft 3in, plenty of gadgets, Bluetooth, 2 USB slots and an Aux port too in the front, one charger socket in the rear. The gearbox feels slick, no notchiness at all usually associated with French cars, plenty of torque when needed from the engine. Great visibility, even better with the rain sensors fitted in the windscreen, we love these! Along with auto headlights. We're yet to have chance to try the grip control feature, hopefully we won't either. Looking for a good solid all round car? The 2008 fits the bill, and with fantastic prices why not?

This is one of the best cars I have ever owned. The press slate the small steering wheel and driving position my wife and I find it excellent. The the build quality of the car is very good. The 115bhp Diesel engine is excellent around town with stop/start and ideal for cruising on the motorway. We had a 1.2 208 before which was ok, but the 2008 is a far better car to own, drive, space, and equipment. The glass roof and the bigger optional 17 inch wheels make the car feel more spacious and handle better.

Not the best. The engine is gutless. Went to Cornwall tried to get up a hill in second gear with a coach trying to get pass me. The car is nice but such a disappointing engine. The 1.2 petrol engine is no good in my opinion, don’t get it, it doesn't have the power most people will need.

This car is practical, stylish and safe. I admire the looks of my car. It’s engine is soothing to hear and is powerful. The problems with this car, however, is that it is quite dull to drive and the steering wheel is quite small and quite hard to turn, if you compare it with other cars. It also has some electrical issues. But on the whole, I think this is a great car.

We had a 308 and luved it. we had previously had a 2 307's and luved them too, and were really disappointed in this 2008 (we couldn't afford the new 3008). The front seats are like church pews, it rolls in corners like the General Belgrano and the rear parcel shelf flap stays up when you don't want it too and flops down when you want it to stay up. Looking at the latest 3008 you can really see where Peugeot put their money. The biggest disappointment was finding what appeared to be rust on both roof rails. After 4 months of chasing the dealer we eventually got them fixed through another, more helpful dealership. After after just 19k miles I have now had to replace the front pads and discs. Grrrrrrr

Having owned a 207 1.6 diesel for 8 trouble free years, it was a bit of a no brainer for me buying another Peugeot oil burner. I paid £12k for a 6 month old facelifted 2008 Active 100 bhp with less than 2 thousand miles on the clock. It is a lot of car for that money, a huge saving on brand new, & zero road tax as it was registered before the new road tax laws came into force. I love the new facelifted front end & the interior quality is poles apart from my beloved 207. The engine is strong as I would have expected & the gearbox is nice & slick although 6 speed would have been nice to see as standard. I like the high seating position, small steering wheel & the infotainment system which is grand once you have spent a bit of worthwhile time mastering it with the help of the handbook. The car has attracted so much genuine admiring attention in the workplace car park. My only gripe is that the parcel shelf does not lift with the tailgate, you have to do it manually which is frustrating when loading up the weekly shop. Minor needless cost saving by Peugeot there which can surely be rectified at little expense in the future. The car also comes with a spare wheel unlike so many manufacturers who seem to think that a puncture repair kit will fix a shredded tyre. Am slightly Peugeot biased but I am delighted with my new purchase & cannot recommend this car enough

Very capable little car, but it's no rocket-ship. The dealer mistakenly ordered the 1.4 rather than 1.6 that we requested, but he made the deal very good so we're not too bothered. It's very easy to drive, the engine has loosened up considerably over 8,000 miles, so it's now reasonably responsive but still approaching 60mpg, which is great. The radio is a little temperamental - when you plug in the iphone it plays randomly at loud volume! Seems like this part of the car was under-developed. A couple of rattles under the dashboard are a letdown. Overall though, it's a well thought-out and practical runaround with very low running costs.

Anyone had problems where the gearstick jumps out of gears? This morning it didn't seem to want to start and the stereo isn't playing, stuck on mute, and I can't use the touch screen. Please tell me if it's just mine or anyone else had the problem?

Great Car. Plenty of power, handles like a dream. The seating position is very nice and gives you a great view ahead as well as been comfortable. Car has all the necessary bits and bobs inside. Dual-zone climate control, auto lights and wipers, folding and heated mirrors, Great sat-nav and infotainment system, Parking sensors all round. Very comfortable and eats up our rubbish road surfaces with ease. The EGC gearbox is great and silky smooth, can feel 1st to 2nd slightly but all other gear changes are spot on! Legroom and headroom is fine and though people moan about the small steering wheel in new Peugeots i find it very nimble and neither me or my other half have any problem seeing the dials. All in all I am very happy with the car and would recommend it to anyone! 10/10

I thankfully only rented this car, but it was so bad I thought I'd tell others of my experience. First issue, the only way you're gonna survive an emergency stop in this thing is by jumping out the side door, its road holding abilities are just pure shocking. It's too high and too light. Centre of gravity is way off. I had to drive on a gravel road once and I steered, but car just wants to go straight on, even at the lowest of speeds. The steering is way to light and darty. If you are 5'5 or over, you cannot get a normal driving position and see the speedo because its in an odd position and the steering wheel is too small. Also if your a man ur gonna hate this car due to the fact you can't really drive with your legs any further then an inch apart to reach the accelerator (left hand drive) you have to kinda kick ur foot out. why put a window on the roof? You can't open it.... only slide the cover back... People don't tend to look up when driving or being driven.... put a proper sunroof in or don't bother. Different driving modes for different terrain? I wouldn't drive this thing into a flat dry field and expect to get out of it. The engine has a slow response and had a tendency to stutter when you put the shoe down. This car is made for mothers who are just glued to the steering wheel while picking kids up from school. Car is full of gimmicks for people who haven't a notion what a real car should be like. The only decent thing i found was the reversing camera - brilliant at night. I normally drive a 2005 merc... and i can honestly say i'd rather drive my 15 year old rust bucket then this any day.

Lovely looking car with lots of useful technical gadgets, useful traction buttons, nice trim, good raised height, comfy seats and lovely metallic red paintwork, good space inside. But the reason I am writing this review is to warn buyers that the fuel consumption is not at all what they advertise. I was in fact getting rid of a large car that only did 28mpg - but so does this little SUV -and I was expecting it to do something in the 40mpg bracket. Unfortunately, my petrol automatic model is only do 27 to 28mpg - occasionally 29mpg after a long drive. I mostly make short journeys - but 'economy' like that is not what one expects these days. The garage thought it odd but checked the fuel settings and said it's all normal...nothing can be done about it. The boot cover is not attached by a string, either, so it gets in the way when you are trying to get things out of the boot. Also it sometimes stays up when the boot goes down, so you can't see out of the back window when you reverse. I'm told the rear seats, while spacious, give a rather bumpy ride to passengers. I kind of wish I had bought the Renault Captur instead!

I love the shape and design of the car, the higher driving position and the boot size. Not loving the fact that it wouldn't go into reverse. I was fobbed off to begin with but it now has a new clutch. More worrying is the extreme steering judder when the car is cold. It started as a problem on full lock but is now happening all the time. The forums show that this is not uncommon but that owners are told it is a quirk of the car. Also hate the fact that Peugeot dealers want you to pay a £100+ diagnostic fee for potential warranty work. The reverse gear issue was intermittent and it went back twice before they agreed to replace it. Luckily motorpoint paid the fee but that would have been over £200. I asked Peugeot whether I would be refunded the full amount if it had been necessary to take the car in 6 times before it was 'diagnosed'. They chose not to answer. Kind of makes a mockery of the warranty really.

We bought the car as we were looking for something more practical but cheap to run. I was registered before the new car tax was enforced so it's still tax free rather than £140. So far it's been a great car. We got a good deal from the dealer as we purchased the demonstration car from them but we got a lot of extras on the car including folding mirrors, grip control and parking sensors. So far it has been great to drive but it takes some getting used to - the assisted city braking is quite sensitive to harsh braking and acceleration so it's best suited to a more relaxed driving style. I'm 6'3'' and I've found it to be comfortable and easy to find a driving position with the seats and adjustable steering column. A number of reviews mention the small steering wheel which I personally like and so far I haven't had any issues with viewing the speedo etc on the dashboard. The overall layout inside is intuitive and the handbrake is similar to the Cactus and easy to use. It's set in a high mount which doubles nicely as an arm rest too. This is the first Peugeot I've owned and I would certainly buy again; I particularly like the high quality interior (which looks great at night with the mood lighting on) and the facelift on the outside look good too, the front grill and wheel arches have been bulked out which makes it look more like a 4x4.

Got this car in 2015 as an upgrade for a 2008 Ford Focus. Overall, I really like it. To start, the boot is big. Easily swallows up some big boxes and the seats fold totally flat. There is lots of space in the back but the transmission tunnel is big and it was difficult for my elderly relatives to get comfortable in. Another problem is the lack of cup holders. For some reason, our car doesn't have any. The glove box is minuscule too. It cannot even hold the drivers handbook. The doorbins are massive though. The touchscreen is easy for us to use. The automatic gearbox is a bit clunky too. The shifts are regular enough but it can rev before you move a lot. The interior quality is brilliant. There is lots of soft touch plastics and has a nice effect on it. Overall, it's a really nice car and a very good price for what you get.

Tell us what you think about your car?
We purchased this car when it had under 5,000 on the clock and was only a few months old. To be frank, the fact that we've always driven large vehicles probably didn't get us off to a very good start with this vehicle. Although we knew from the start that this car could never be compared to such vehicles, we did expect to get on with it better than we have done. We purchased it because it was said to be really economical, good sized and agile to drive. We were looking for a car that had low emissions and was cheap to tax, higher driving position and generally a good buy for your money. Reading reviews about the 2008, we thought this car would fit the bill however it doesn't. I will start with the plus points first For a 1.6 diesel engine there's enough power when you need it, the car is also very low geared so that helps. I wish we had opted for the six speed gearbox though, We're always feeling the need to change up to sixth gear listening to the engine, given its geared so low. I'm used to large engined diesels but I was pleasantly surprised at the power of this engine for its size, although it does suffer with diesel flat spot which is quite bad, even when you are very light on the accelerator. There's the grip control system, although we've not had occasion to use it as yet, it looks very impressive when watching videos of it in action. The design of the car looks nice and isn't overly in your face and screaming for attention being fairly conservative in design. You have a slightly raised driving position compared to a standard height car. The one lever operation to convert the back seats into one large storage area is great. The level boot load lip is great too, you can just slide things into the car easily. The road tax at the moment is £20 per year. I suppose if you require a reverse parking sensor that feature is handy on the Allure trim level upwards. Although personally I can't see the point of a reverse sensor on a car this size, also the very loud bleeping drives me nuts, even backing out of the garage is a trial, the sensors sound continuously at the items in the garage, then the driveway planters and then again as you try to leave the drive. So I turn the system off. Not so good points If you are tall 5ft 10inches plus, you may want to look elsewhere for a car. We both need the drivers seat set back to the furthest point to be able to have the leg room to drive this car and we also need the seat set to the lowest height to be able to have enough leg room under the steering wheel when changing gear. At that point, there is no space at all for any leg space for passengers in the back. We also need the steering wheel set to its highest point and pulled outwards, given we end up so far way from the wheel for the leg space. This means we cannot see the controls over the steering wheel, because you need to look over and not through the wheel because the wheel is so small. I don't actually mind the really small steering wheel, it means the car can be manoeuvred easier. My other half does not like the steering at all and finds over steering is a problem because the wheel is so small and just too sensitive. I don't have an issue with that. The wheel needs to be in the fully up position for us, so we can lift our legs off the clutch pedal without hitting the steering wheel. The ergonomics of the clutch pedal position isn't good when you have the seat set so far back. Surprisingly there's a huge lack of interior storage space, the total excuse for a passenger glove box just fits a pack of hand wipes and a tiny two inch tall bottle of hand sanitiser. The two cup holders are ridiculous, you cannot even get a can of energy drink to fit in them and stand up, or a standard size bottle of water. The display information screen is really annoying and not at all ergonomic to use (I've used lots of different cars info systems and this is by far the worst to operate in my opinion) Also there's no CD player in the Allure spec, you have to use bluetooth or USB or listen to the radio. The slot for a USB card is in the most awkward place imaginable, in front of the gear stick more or less under a trim, so you have to bend double and root about to find the slot each time you insert the card (which needs to be every time you start the vehicle otherwise the USB stick stays powered up with a card in the slot, even when the cars locked up) The head rests actually push your head forward in the seats, to the point that my neck hurts, there's no tilt or back adjustment to them, why? Never in all my years of driving have a come across a headrest that pushes ones head forward even when you are not wishing to put your head on the rest. So if you decide you need to adjust the back of the chair to try and compensate for the headrest, you find yourself nearly laying down and certainly not in a position to drive a vehicle. The seats rake is only adjustable in large steps via a lever on the side of the car seat, the steps are too large for me, one step is too upright, the next to too far back, so I cannot find a comfy driving position. There's no car alarm on the Allure, that's just stingy, there's only one remote key too, even stingier, we didn't actually know about either of these issues until we took delivery of the vehicle, the second key is just that, it's a key. There's a huge amount of plastic in this car, it is everywhere, it scratches easily too, not something I've come across before in a vehicle. Although the seats are nice to look at, they sink down after you've been sat on them for a short while, so you need to keep adjusting your centre rear view mirror during driving. I was driving the car with one passenger in the rear behind the front passenger seat. The passenger in question is five foot four and of slim to average size. They had the seatbelt right across their neck and ended up having a really sore neck and having to hold the belt away from the neck. There's no adjustment for the seatbelt height in the back of the car, this is a major safety concern of ours, if we had a crash the passenger could have their neck broken. The worst issues with the car. If you like a ride like you may find at Alton Towers, being chucked around, want to feel every bump, lump and even just a ripple of the road surface, even when you are just crawling along in traffic, this car could be for you. I actually find riding a horse smoother than driving around in this car. We are constantly banging our heads on the headrests and in the rear of the car, banging your head against the actual door frame, which is painful. The ride is a total let down for this vehicle, it's actually the roughest riding car I've owned or driven and as the car is running in it is becoming more bumpy. I've owned dozens of vehicles and driven at least a good couple of hundred different models over the years, even my better halves very old tiny basic car is much smoother to be in than this 2008. Then there's the clutch position with its very high non adjustable bite point, you have to lift your leg up and off, hard when you are tall and so far away from the clutch to be able to drive the car. The gears are notchy and not really very smooth, although you get used to that. The handbrake isn't a conventional lever, it's also set really far back in the car. If you are really small and need your seat really close to the wheel to drive, you could well struggle to reach the handbrake. Likewise, if you are really tall and need the seat right back to drive, you do have a long reach for the gear lever. I actually struggle to release the handbrake and I'm not a weak person. There's the recommended fuel consumption figures, we get nowhere near the manufacturers claims. Even with motorway runs we are only returning 56 miles per gallon at the best, that's driving correctly and obeying the speed limits. There's also a lot of wind noise from the door pillars on motorways. In hindsight (which is a wonderful thing) A quick five minute drive around the dealers local trading estates smooth roads, at twenty miles an hour at best, in heavy traffic with no fuel in the car and under pressure to turn round quickly to make it back to the dealership before you run out of fuel, isn't the way to buy a vehicle. We should have walked away, but we felt under pressure by the dealers to close the deal especially as they had sourced the car for us. The plus point, we have not had any mechanical issues with the car at all since ownership, but we've not owned it very long at all, however we've had squeaking seats and one annoying dash squeak, that have since disappeared. I personally wouldn't recommend this car myself, I like a smoother ride and more storage space inside a vehicle. If the ride was improved along with the transmission and various ergonomic issues were resolved, this car could be something great. As it is, it is average at best and the ride quality is well under average in our opinion.

Although the car looks very stylish and has added extras of Parking Assist and heated seats there is not much that I really like about this car. One of the few things is the rear view mirror, it has a sensor that dulls the glare of cars behind you which is very good. Fuel consumption is brilliant, very impressive, even on frequent short journeys. I have the Eco Automatic and the actual driving of the car though is very erratic, some days I think I have got it sussed and then it seems to 'freak out', not changing up or down gears, or revving the engine extremely high. On occasion, when pulling out of a junction or at a roundabout, when I put my foot down it doesn't go anywhere then all of a sudden catches and races off. It also has trouble going slow when you are trying to park, sometimes you only have to touch the accelerator and it moves with more force than meant. All this doesn't just happen to me, my partner has the same driving experience so it's not just because I am a woman. Don't like not having a CD player and the controls for the heating etc is not in a good position, being very low down you have to take your eyes off the road for too long to change things.
