While not the most stylish car on the market, the Golf Estate does still exude a certain class, and looks like a high quality product.
As with the hatchback, Golf Estate buyers can choose from a wide range of petrol and diesel engines

Petrol engines include an 84bhp 1.0-litre engine which is a little lacking in power, though a 108bhp version of this engine is also available
The 123bhp 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine has enough power for most people, though, and can return impressive fuel economy

Diesel fans can choose from a 1.6 or 2.0-litre, with between 113 and 148 bhp, all models of which return impressive fuel economy

The handling of the Golf estate is neat and tidy, although you can feel the extra weight compared to the hatchback
The GT variant has slightly firmer suspension for further reduced body lean, but this also makes for a firmer ride

Buyers can choose a six-speed manual or dual-clutch DSG automatic gearbox, although the DSG is quick and responsive to use, we prefer the manual gearbox.
