Jeep Avenger is the latest EV to get price cut worth thousands
Jeep’s only electric car is now £5,000 cheaper than before, undercutting key rivals
- Price cut for electric Jeep Avenger
- Prices now start from £29,999
- Undercuts Volvo EX30 and Kia EV3
Electric versions of the Jeep Avenger are now up to nearly £5,000 cheaper than before, thanks to a round of dramatic price cuts. The small SUV now starts from £29,999, compared to £34,800 when it launched in 2023.
That’s a significant move, as it makes the Avenger the most affordable of all the small electric SUVs sold under parent brand Stellantis. Electric models of the Alfa Romeo Junior and Peugeot E-2008 start from around £34,000, while the Fiat 600 costs around £33,000. The Vauxhall Mokka Electric, which also shares its platform with the cars listed above, costs from around £33,000, too.
It also means that the electric Avenger is priced on par with the new Ford Puma Gen-E, the electric version of the UK’s best selling car. Other key rivals, including the Volvo EX30 and Kia EV3, are now more expensive than the Avenger.
The entry-level electric Jeep Avenger Longitude starts from £29,999, which represents a saving of £4,801. Avenger Altitude models cost from £31,999 (£4,500 cheaper than before), while the top-spec Avenger Summit now costs £33,999 (£4,701 cheaper). Prices for petrol and hybrid models of the Avenger haven’t changed – they’re still more affordable than the EV.
The price cuts for the Jeep Avenger come during a tricky period for Stellantis. CEO Carlos Tavares abruptly resigned earlier this month, while there have been concerns about meeting the fast-approaching ZEV mandate targets in the UK. This states that electric cars will have to make up at least 28% of a car manufacturer’s sales next year, ramping up to 80% in 2028 before transitioning to 100% electric in 2035.
Stellantis has already announced price cuts for other electric models this year, including the Peugeot E-2008 and E-208, as well as the Vauxhall Grandland, Astra and Corsa. While Jeep hasn’t provided a reason for the Avenger’s price reduction, it’s reasonable to assume that the lower price is aimed at increasing EV sales in an effort to hit next year’s ZEV target. Failing to do so incurs a £15,000 fine for every combustion-engined car sold over the limit.
