GWM Ora 03 gets major £6k price cut and new sporty GT model

The GWM Ora 03 lineup has grown for 2025, introducing a new ‘Pure’ model that costs from just £24,995. That represents a huge £6,000 price cut over the old entry-level car, making it one of the most affordable electric cars on sale today.

The 03 Pure is joined by a new range-topping ‘GT’ model, too. It gets a host of sporty interior and exterior styling details, plus a larger battery with a range of up to 248 miles. Both versions can be ordered from January 21, with the first customer deliveries scheduled for March.

The GWM Ora 03 has been on sale in the UK since late 2022, originally launched under the ‘Funky Cat’ model name. The Renault Megane-sized hatchback is the first electric car from Chinese auto giant Great Wall Motors to be sold on our shores, but the brand will expand its presence with the Ora 07 and the new Haval sub-brand in the near future.

What’s new for the GMW Ora 03 Pure and GT?

The new GWM Ora 03 Pure isn’t all that different from the 03 Pure+, which was the old entry-point to the range. What has changed, though, is the price; the Pure is £6,000 cheaper than the Pure+ without sacrificing standard equipment or range.

It still comes with a 48kWh battery and a 169bhp front-mounted electric motor, with a range of up to 192 miles. The 0-62mph acceleration benchmark takes the same 8.3 seconds, while charging times are identical thanks to the same 100kW DC compatibility.

There’s a long standard kit list, including 18-inch alloy wheels, a 360-degree parking camera, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry, electric front seats and a pair of 10.25-inch digital displays. The only thing that appears to have been dropped for that £6,000 price cut is the leatherette upholstery for the seats.

The new GT model commands an £8,000 premium over the Pure model, but it brings a sporty styling package, more interior kit and an efficiency-boosting heat pump. You get a unique front bumper, wider wheel arches, a roof spoiler and a handful of red-painted accents. Inside, you’ll find a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and massaging front seats and some red details to match the exterior.

The old Pro+ model has been replaced by the Pro, too. This model gets the bigger battery and has the longest range, standing at 261 miles. It costs £4,000 more than the 03 Pure, but gets heated leatherette seats, an automatic parking feature and front parking sensors.

When do the new GWM Ora 03 models go on sale?

All new GWM Ora 03 models, including the Pure, Pro and GT, will go on sale from 21st January 2025. Prices start at £24,995 for the Pure, rising to £32,995 for the range-topping Pro model.
