We’re just days away from laying eyes upon the new Renault Captur, with the French automaker confirming an official reveal date of April 4th 2024. The popular small SUV will be treated to a comprehensive facelift, with new interior technology and a fresh look that reflects Renault’s latest design language. Before then, we’ve had a peek at some leaked patent images and our exclusive images preview its new appearance.

You could argue that the small SUV market is headed towards saturation point, with many manufacturers offering several models at a range of price points, but the Renault Captur stands out from the crowd. We think it’s one of the best offerings in its segment, delivering on affordability, reliability and practicality. It shares its underpinnings with the Renault Clio supermini but offers more space for not much more money, making it an excellent choice for families.

The upcoming facelift is likely to build upon the strengths of the current model, solidifying its position in the upper ranks of the small SUV class.

What can we expect from the new Renault Captur?

The facelifted Captur’s new front-end design is likely to be the most obvious change. Taking inspiration from the new electric Renault Scenic, the Captur will trade its C-shaped headlights for slimmer, LED units and feature a geometric pattern across the front grille. The bumper will look more aggressive, with angular air intakes replacing the swoopy items found on the current model.

The differences at the rear will be less severe. You’ll spot the carried-over tail-lights which sit above a lower bumper that will only be mildly updated. The Captur’s side profile won’t change – this is a facelift after all – but we expect a choice of new alloy wheels along with a revised colour palette.

Moving inside, cabin materials should receive an upgrade – an area the existing Captur already excels in. More affordable models in the range are expected to receive the 10-inch digital driver’s display and 9.3-inch infotainment display currently reserved for higher trim levels.

Engine-wise, the new Captur is set to arrive without petrol-only engine options in favour of a hybrid-only lineup (the diesel model was discontinued some time ago). It will use the existing 1.6-litre E-Tech full-hybrid powertrain that can also be found in the Clio supermini, but it remains to be seen whether a plug-in hybrid option will survive the facelift.

Renault has confirmed an official reveal date of April 4th 2024 for the new Captur, when the external design, new cabin and technical changes will be unveiled in full. It’s expected to go on sale in the UK later this year, competing against the hugely popular Ford Puma and Nissan Juke in the hotly-contested small SUV segment.
