2024 Audi A3 gets a sporty-looking facelift, prices start from £32k

The 2024 Audi A3 is the latest in a series of facelifted models coming from Audi this year, and we now have official UK pricing and specifications. UK models will start from £32,035 for the Sportback model and £32,600 for the Saloon, with the new Audi S3 costing nearly £15,000 more.

Following the tweaked Audi Q7 SUV shown off in January, the new A3 brings a revised exterior design and buyers will enjoy more standard equipment across the range. Audi is taking orders for the new A3 now, while the sportier S3 will go on sale from May 15th.

One of the original upmarket family hatchbacks, the Audi A3 competes directly with cars such as the BMW 1 Series and Mercedes A-Class, with five doors and a spacious, premium interior. Much like the Mercedes, Audi sells the A3 as a four-door saloon, too, which has received the same facelift treatment as the hatchback.

What do I need to know about the 2024 Audi A3?

The biggest changes for the 2024 Audi A3 are found on the exterior, so we’ll start there. The typical Audi hexagonal grille is still present, but it's now wider and flatter, with rounded corners. The bumper below is new – as is the one found at the rear – taking on a ‘sportier’ appearance with similarities to the performance-focused Audi RS 3.

17-inch wheels are fitted as standard, but buyers will be able to upgrade to larger 18 or 19-inch items. Two new red and green colours have been added to the paint palette, while some colours can now be ordered in a matte finish. New LED headlights allow the driver to switch between four different daytime-running light ‘signatures’ through the infotainment system to mix things up – upgraded LED matrix headlights with the same feature are also available.

As for the interior, the changes aren’t quite as drastic, with the focus resting on new trim pieces and wider use of ambient lighting throughout. There are two new fabric upholstery options that make use of recycled plastic, along with a new adjustable armrest for the driver and front passenger.

The standard equipment list has grown, too. All A3s now come with ambient lighting across the doors and footwells, as well as a wireless smartphone charging pad and four USB-C ports. You’ll even find Amazon Alexa integrated into the voice assistant for streaming music.

Like the outgoing A3, all models still come fitted as standard with a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen and Audi’s Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster. You’ll find the same row of physical climate control buttons, too, which many drivers will prefer over the touch-sensitive controls found in some of the A3’s rivals, including the Volkswagen Golf. 

What engines are available with the 2024 Audi A3?

Nothing has changed under the sheet metal for this facelift, so there are no new engines for the 2024 Audi A3. It will be offered initially with the 35 TFSI petrol engine, producing 148bhp and driving the wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox – a six-speed manual will follow. 

A 35 TDI diesel version will be launched alongside the petrol model, also producing 148bhp and using the same automatic gearbox. A plug-in hybrid A3 will join the ranks later in the year.

How much does the 2024 Audi A3 cost and when can I order one?

UK-bound examples of the Audi A3 Sportback start from £32,035 in entry-level 35 TFSI Sport trim – Saloons cost from £32,600. Even this model comes with three-zone climate control, heated front seats, wireless smartphone charging and front and rear parking sensors – all things you wouldn’t find in the outgoing base model. The 35 TDI is more expensive, costing from £33,935.

Stepping up to S Line trim brings more kit but ups the price tag by around £2,300. For all the bells and whistles, there’s the top-spec Black Edition A3, which costs from £36,015 with the 35 TFSI engine and Sportback bodystyle, up to £38,530 for the Saloon-bodied 35 TDI.

All models of the new Audi A3 are available to order now, with the first deliveries scheduled for early May.
