Looks really good but this car turned out to be a nightmare. I am currently waiting for parts to come from Italy because the clutch and flywheel in the dualogic gearbox have failed after 2,700 miles!

Problems with electrics after 3 years, fixed by Fiat. Boot stopped opening, fixed itself! Major issue now with gearbox. Reverse gear shattered with 19,000 miles on clock. Driven by owner from new. Mature owner, low mileage. No help from Fiat. They couldn't care less and bill estimated to be £3,000. Gutted. Not a mark on the car otherwise. Going to buy a Fiesta.

I bought this car on a whim and I'm glad I did. Driving it makes me feel good. I feel even better when the top is down and I have it down whenever I can - winter or summer. I have had no mechanical or electrical problems with the car so far and I have just done 13k miles. Mine is the Dualogic 1.2 petrol version and the gearbox works very well providing smooth almost imperceptible changes. It will kick down eagerly when required and produces a surprising turn of speed when it does. The engine only really shows its weakness on long upward motorway gradients when it runs out of breath but I can live with that as it cruise all day at up to 85 with no thrash from the engine at 40mpg. No matter how the car is driven the fuel consumption never drops below 40 but I have to say Fiat's claimed MPG figures are pure fiction. Talk to any owner and they will soon tell you! Having said that I didn't buy the car for its fuel economy - I bought it for its visual and driving appeal and on those scores I am more than satisfied.

I loved this car when I bought it – it had only 6,000 miles on the clock so was almost new and thought it would be a good option to replace my 15 year old car, but I could not have been more wrong. One year later and 3 weeks after the warratnty had expired it broke down in the fast lane of the motorway with clutch hydraulic problems. It took two weeks to get the part from Italy and then two days after it was fixed it broke down again. This time it was the starter motor. This took a further week off the road for a new starter motor. The final straw came a few days later when a potentiometer had to be replaced. So having spent over a £1000 on it in the last month, with very poor service from my local Fiat dealer, it is going. My impression of this brand is virtually zero now as I also raised all issues with Fiat Customer Services only to be told that they would not contribute to the repairs as not only was it outside the warranty period but due to its age, mileage and service history (3 years old and 15.000 miles ! )
