Me and my car have a love hate relationship.
When it works, I love it. It's nippy, cheap to run, practical, comfy and has plenty of mod cons.
However within the first two months of owning it it had a new exhaust and new window regulators. These were covered by warranty but that was only the beginning of countless issues I have come across.
My full beam gets stuck on in the left hand side, turning the lights off doesn't even rectify the issue. Hyundai can't find a fault with them when hooked up to diagnostics.
Both the window regulators need replacing again as they constantly rattle.
The clutch is creaky, quite loudly may I add.
The headlight adjuster stopped working and the lights have set themselves to the lowest possible setting.
If the temperature drops below 0°c the speakers don't work. But that's not an issue, the radio signal is very poor, on every station, no matter where in the country I am, maybe that's due to the fact the aerials coming away from the roof? Who knows!
Oh and occasionally the car won't start and the dash cluster has a spasm whilst throwing out al ssorts of odd noises. Once this happens and you can start the car, you don't have any indication of the mileage the cars covered as it sits on 00000, fuel range disappears along with all the other items of the trip. Again, Hyundai couldn't find a fault with this.
I'm completely over this car, which is a shame because when it actually functions and you can't hear the windows rattling or the seats creaking it's cracking. But that's so few and far between that it's wiped all hope I had left off the table.
Even worse, the depreciation on the darn thing. I've had it for 18 months and it's dropped by over half what I paid for it, leaving me stuck with it for the foreseeable future.
I think I will be putting in a very strong letter to Hyundai, because in my eyes... it's not fit for purpose and hasn't been 90% of the time I've owned it.

I bought my Hyundai I20 Coupe in 2015. Ive not had ANY problems with the car. Its really quiet on motorways (Ive taken off the inside panels and have found Hyundai have padded the car with lots of sound insulation) and it has massive boot space (330 litres). Its also sporty looking and not many Coupes around so it stands out when people haven't seen one before.
I love the cornering headlamps that come on when you turn a corner and feel safe with the car with daytime running LEDs. Its a great car for a mixture of driving from urban to motorways. For me it has enough power in the city but if you do long distance journeys with a lot to lug around. It does need more power other than that Im very happy with my I20 Coupe.

It is as good as it looks. It feels solidly built, comfortable and quiet. It handles very well, cornering flat and with very good grip and respectable steering precision on its Michelin energy savers ( despite the name, performance isn't sacrificed for economy).
At motorway speeds, which it manages with ease, there is very little road or engine noise and it isn't affected by crosswinds or turbulence from juggernauts . Air conditioning, bluetooth, 6 speaker sound system, LED running lights etc etc leave you feeling looked after. On the whole unlike its class competitors it feels like an expensive and grown up car. Just stay away from the 17'' wheels which are unnecessary, ruin the ride and probably go a long way towards explaining lukewarm reviews in the UK motoring press.
My only criticism is that it could do with a little more power. On my own it is fine, one passenger is OK but any more and it loses its agility significantly and requires much use of the gearbox - fortunately that is exceptional too.

I wanted a car that you don't see on the road every day and the i20 coupe in phantom black certainly stands out in a car park. Sporty? Not really but you can throw it in to a corner and it will hold it well. It's good to drive on motorways, put the cruise control on and let it get on with it.
It rides well on A and B roads and with four people in the car everyone has more than enough room. Like all coupes getting into the back takes some getting used too and exiting the vehicle is the same. Before, I had the i30 5 door, it was a very nice car and never let me down and I am sure this wont either.
The build quality in this car is very good, with sat nav on my phone the docking station is just at the right height so you don't have to look down inside the car.
