Range Rover Sport review – Reliability & safety
Owners rate Land Rovers highly, but reliability is a low point for the brand
Land Rovers have been designed to be able to overcome almost any terrain; however, something that the brand has always struggled with is its build quality and reliability.
As part of the aforementioned ‘Reimagine’ initiative, the British marque has focused on improving these aspects, but our 2024 Driver Power owner’s survey suggests there’s still work to do.
Reliability
The Range Rover Sport is too new to have appeared in our latest Driver Power customer satisfaction survey. However, Land Rover as a brand finished an impressive 10th out of 32 manufacturers in 2024. Highlights included interior design, fit and finish, ride and handling, drivetrains and boot space, all of which were voted in the top 10.
The same can’t be said for reliability. A worrying 41% of buyers experienced a problem with their new car within the first year of ownership, placing it second last. What’s worse, the brand came dead last for insurance and servicing costs.
Safety
The new Range Rover Sport was tested by Euro NCAP in late 2022 and awarded a five-star score. This included scores of above 80% in the Adult Occupant, Child Occupant and Safety Assist categories, so the Sport should be one of the safest SUVs on the road.
Standard safety and driver assistance equipment is strong and includes autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera system.
