BMW iX to be upgraded in 2025 with more tech and better efficiency
New version of the BMW iX electric SUV will arrive next year with a range of updates and upgrades over the current version
- Arriving in 2025
- Improved efficiency and power likely
- Bigger battery
The next version of the BMW iX electric SUV has been confirmed, and while the changes to the exterior are relatively minor, the brand has confirmed that there are a significant number of upgrades to the technology under the skin. The new model will arrive in 2025 and promises to be more efficient and powerful than the model on sale now.
The next model’s battery will be larger than the current 112kWh unit – although the brand hasn’t confirmed by how much – and thanks to other improvements such as new tyres BMW says efficiency will be up by as much as 10%.
New suspension set-ups for each version will help to make the car smoother over bumps and more fun to drive depending on the application – so the sporty versions will be sportier and the comfort-oriented models will be more comfortable.
Currently the BMW iX is available with between 321bhp and 610bhp, and we expect those numbers to rise slightly with the new model thanks to some upgraded electric motors. BMW says the names of the specifications will change, although we expect the structure to remain similar with M Sport being a sportier version with red brake calipers, a different steering wheel and sports seats with different trim options.
New headlights and a subtly revised grille are the main exterior changes, as the rest of the car will be pretty similar to the version already available. The 2025 model’s underlying changes should make it more appealing without much need to make big changes to the way the car looks from the outside. Expect to see differences on the inside when it comes to the options that are available and how much they cost to add, too.
Prices will likely hold steady at around £70,000 for the base model of this luxury SUV, although it’s possible we’ll see a small price increase for this update in 2025.
