They say that good things come in small packages, and while the modern Fiat 500 has larger dimensions, it’s kept all of the charm that the original version from 1957.
It’s easy to make the 500C your own, with a huge variety of personalisation options and bright colours available to choose from – the convertible’s interior is exactly the same as the standard car and features all the same optional extras.
The 500 is one of the most civilised convertibles around thanks to its roll-back roof helping keep wind noise to a minimum. The fabric roof folds back at the touch of a button and can be operated at speeds of up to 37mph. It can also be partially opened, like a sunroof.
It’s easy to drive and the steering is light but accurate. There’s even a button on the dash that will make it even lighter to aid those tight and tricky parking maneuvers. It feels safe, nimble and fun to drive, while reliability is good and the interior feels very well made.
All models come with driver, passenger, side, curtain and driver’s knee airbags as standard, as well as ABS and Isofix child seat mountings. The rear window is glass and heated, and Xenon lights feature on the options list.
The Fiat 500C has the same engine line-up as the standard 500, so all cars get stop-start as standard. Pick of the range is the award-winning turbocharged 875cc TwinAir, which emits just 95g/km – making it tax exempt.
