CarBuyer’s most popular Instagram pictures
We list our most popular Instagram pictures as part of our birthday celebrations
CarBuyer is three-years-old this week and, to celebrate, we’re putting together a review of our most popular content over the past three years.
We regularly post photos of the cars we’re driving on photo sharing social networking site Instagram. And today we’re looking at the pictures that have picked up the most likes and comments from our followers.
Below is a list of the top ten cars that proved to be the most popular. But before reading it, why not head over to www.instagram.com/carbuyeruk and follow us on Instagram.
1. Range Rover Sport
Over the last few years, Land Rover’s Range Rover brand has become one of the most desirable names in the luxury car business. And our picture of the new Range Rover Sport – which sits between the standard Range Rover and the smaller Range Rover Evoque in the line-up – is the most popular image with our followers on Instagram.
2. Renaultsport Clio
Coming in at second place is the Renault Clio RS. It’s a sportier version of the standard Clio supermini that has been given extra power and a more aggressive look by the French company’s tuning arm, Renaultsport. It’s breathtakingly fast but it’s also more comfortable and luxurious than ever before.
3. Volkswagen Golf
The Volkswagen Golf has always been a firm favourite of car fans and the GTD may be the ultimate version of the German family hatchback. It offers performance that’s almost on a par with the legendary GTI but will also do 67.3mpg and emits just 109g/km CO2. No wonder it is our third most popular image on Instagram.
4. Volvo V40
Not far behind the Volkswagen Golf GTD is the Volvo V40. It’s a family hatchback aimed at rivals like the Mercedes A-Class, BMW 1 Series and Audi A3, and it’s been attracting quite a lot of attention and praise from our Instagram followers – mainly for its sleek looks.
5. Mercedes E-Class
The Mercedes E-Class was given a facelift earlier this year, and Mercedes has done a good job on its executive saloon judging by the response to our Instagram image. It keeps the level of comfort and luxury you expect from a Mercedes but introduces sharper styling. It is our fifth most liked picture on Instagram.
6. Skoda Octavia vRS estate
The Skoda Octavia vRS combines sporty performance with class-leading practicality. It’s fast car that’s equally happy to be driven hard or used on the school run. And it’s proved to be very popular with our Instagram followers – it is the joint sixth most liked image, along with the BMW 5 Series.
7. BMW 5 Series
Like its rival, the Mercedes E-Class, the BMW 5 Series recently got an update, with a new grille and new lights. The 5 Series is stylish, practical, comfortable and sporty, too. It's won our Best Large Executive Car award for the last two years in a row. And it’s number seventh on our list of most liked Instagram images.
8. Mercedes CLA
There aren’t many cars on the road that can match the distinctive head-turning looks of the Mercedes CLA. It’s an incredible looking car, so weren’t in the least surprised when it proved to be a big hit without Instagram followers. It is CarBuyer’s eighth most liked picture.
9. Porsche Panamera
The oddly proportioned Porsche Panamera has caught quite a bit of flak for its unconventional looks. But it proved to be very popular with our Instagram followers. The saloon model is joint ninth on our list of most liked pictures along with the Ford Fiesta ST.
10. Ford Fiesta ST
The Ford Fiesta ST is probably the most entertaining and best value hot hatchback on the market. It also looks superb, thanks to some tweaks to its body work that make it look a whole lot more sporty than the standard Fiesta. It is the final entrant on CarBuyer’s most popular Instagram pictures.
