Range revised for 2014 Toyota Yaris
Toyota Yaris gets four new specifications and tax-free diesel engine
From next year the Toyota Yaris will be available in four new specifications – priced from £10,895 to £15,995 – and gets a diesel engine that dips under 100g/km CO2 emissions for free road tax.
The rebranded range includes Active, Icon, Icon Plus and Trend models. All cars get a six-speaker stereo with an 3.5mm aux and USB socket, audio controls on the steering wheel, electric front windows, height adjustment on the driver’s seat, seven airbags and stability control. The latter two help secure the Yaris’ five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. Upgrade to Icon trim, which starts from £13,970 and is only available with the 1.3-litre engine, and you get 15-inch alloy wheels, air-conditioning and Bluetooth connectivity.
Two high-specification models come in the form of the Icon Plus and Trend trims. Priced from £12,820 with the 1.0-litre engine, the Icon Plus gets kit such as 15-inch alloy wheels, bright LED rear lights, front foglights, automatic headlights and wipers, front and rear electric windows, automatic climate control, plus a revised, high-set central console, when fitted with the manual gearbox. The top-of-the-range Trend model starts at £14,995 and adds 16-inch alloys, exterior chrome work, plus leather trim for the steering wheel and gear knob.
As well producing road-tax busting emissions of 99g/km (down from 104g/km), the Yaris’ 1.4-litre diesel engine also has improved economy – it’s been increased from 72.4mpg to 74.3mpg.
The new trim levels have also affected the Yaris Hybrid. In Active trim (costing £15,495), it gets LED daytime running lights, and climate control. Icon Plus (£16,495) additions include cruise control, a rear-view camera and Bluetooth phone connection, while the Trend version (£17,495) gets bigger alloy wheels, keyless start and entry, plus automatic headlights and wipers.
