Vauxhall Corsa 2014 release date, price & specs
All you need to know about the new Vauxhall Corsa ahead of its Wednesday reveal
The new Vauxhall Corsa has already been caught testing and we know that it shares its looks with the Vauxhall Adam. Vauxhall has also been keen to tell us that the new car gets an improved interior that is both good to look at and as well built as the Volkswagen Polo’s.
New Vauxhall Corsa interior and specs
We have seen pictures of the Vauxhall Adam’s interior that were snapped when the car was caught testing. They confirm that the car gets a sporty thick-rimmed steering wheel, glossy black plastic highlights and, what look to be, soft-touch plastics.
Vauxhall is expected to offer the Corsa with a choice of two infotainment systems. The more expensive of the two will feature sat-nav as standard and buyers will also be able to opt for a Intellilink touchscreen that will let the system mirror the screen on your smartphone.
New Vauxhall Corsa 2014 engines and drive
The new Corsa will be available with a choice of three petrol engines, including a turbocharged 99bhp 1.4-litre, but it is the two small three-cylinder engines that we are more excited about. The are available in 89bhp and 113bhp form and should give the Corsa excellent economy and decent performance. Engines carried over from the old Corsa include 1.2 and 1.4-litre petrols, as well as a 1.3-litre diesel. In the future, a fast Vauxhall Corsa will be fitted with the turbo 1.6-litre petrol engine from the Vauxhall Cascada. Vauxhall is also likely to fit it with the company’s new 1.6-litre diesel engine.
We have driven a prototype version of the Vauxhall Corsa and can confirm it is a massive improvement on the current model. The new car’s suspension does a good job of absorbing bumps – even on the sporty SRi specification prototype we drove, which had 17-inch alloy wheels and stiffer suspension. The steering is also tuned depending on which model you go for, with sporty trim levels getting heavier steering, for confidence in the corners, while more basic models will get lighter steering for town driving. For now, we have only driven the 99bhp 1.4-litre petrol, but it felt perfectly suited to town and motorway driving.
New Vauxhall Corsa 2014 release date & price
Our first proper look at the new Vauxhall Corsa will come when the car is officially revealed at the Paris Motor Show in October, before going on sale later this year. Although prices have yet to be confirmed, the new model should cost from around £10,000 to compete with rivals such as the Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Polo.
