New Renault Twingo 2014: model range
The Renault is available in three trim levels – Expression, Play and Dynamique. All come fitted with Renault’s R & GO infotainment system that can integrate with smartphone apps for functions such as sat-nav and music streaming. Other features include a rear spoiler, height adjustable steering wheel, electric windows, a folding front passenger seat, split-folding rear seat, and three cupholders.
Mid-range Play specification adds desirable options such as air-conditioning, height adjustment for the driver’s seat, and unique two-tone wheels trims.
Top-of-the-range Dynamique models are easy to spot thanks to standard 15-inch alloy wheels and side stripes in either black or white. They also get a front fog lights, electric heated door mirrors, a speed limiter and cruise control. But most useful of all is Renault’s R-Link infotainment system, which adds TomTom sat-nav, a 3D sound system, and a seven-inch touchscreen.
All models come with electronic stability control, hill-start assist, emergency brake assist and four airbags, while Dynamique models also get a lane departure warning system.
New Renault Twingo interior & equipment
The Twingo has its engine mounted in the rear, which has allowed Renault to free up more interior space. Its cabin is 22cm longer than the old model, despite the Twingo being 10cm shorter than the old model. Boot space comes to 219 litres – some way off the 252-litre boot in the Hyundai i10 – and extends to 980 litres with the 50:50 split-folding rear seats folded down. There is also up to 52 litres of additional storage spaces scattered around the interior including a 2.6-litre removable bin at the bottom of the dashboard, a 29-litre storage area beneath the front seats, and a 6.4-litre glovebox.
Personalisation will be key to the Twingo’s appeal and a wide variety of option packs allow buyers to build “a virtually bespoke car”, according to Renault.
Those packs include the Interior Touch pack (£100), which gives buyers a choice of trim colour for the dashboard and steering wheel. The Seats pack (£250) adds heated front seats and an ISOFIX childseat mount in the front, while the Techno pack (£600) gets R-Link infotainment system (that’s standard in the Dynamique) and a rear parking camera. The Convenience pack (£500) includes automatic lights and wipers, plus climate control.
New Renault Twingo: engines & specs
Renault will offer the Twingo with a choice of two petrol engines – a 1.0-litre SCe 70 with 69bhp and a 900cc TCe 90 with 89bhp. Dynamique models come with stop-start technology to save fuel and with the SCe 70 engine can return up to 67.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 95g/km for free road tax. Fitted with the TCe 90 engine the Twingo offers peppier performance, is free to tax, and still returns 66mpg. Scroll below for a full breakdown of specifications and pricing.
