Skoda Fabia Estate priced from £12,400

The new Skoda Fabia Estate will feature more equipment as standard than ever before. The new car is available to order in December, ahead of customer deliveries in March, and is priced from £12,460.

The new Fabia's starting price is around £850 more than the current car's, but the entry-level version benefits from a newer 1.2-litre petrol engine, six airbags, a DAB digital radio, Bluetooth phone connectivity and electric front windows as standard.

The entry-level S model is one of three trim grades, which also includes SE and SE-L. Additional versions, including a sporty-looking Monte Carlo, are expected to go on sale in the future.

Fabia SE models start at £13,905 and feature air-conditioning, alloy wheels and an upgraded stereo system. Also fitted is Skoda’s Front Assist system, which helps to reduce the chance – or severity – of a shunt. A Mirror Link feature, which can replicate your smartphone display on the car's own screen, also comes as standard.

The Fabia Elegance sits at the top of the range. Priced from £14,755, it counts 16-inch alloy wheels, climate control, keyless entry and cruise control among its standard features.

The new Skoda Fabia Estate weighs 65kg less than the current car, which contributes to a 17% improvement in efficiency. Skoda expects the Fabia Estate to appeal to company-car drivers, with Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) rates from 14%. Of the 17 versions available when the car goes on sale, seven will emit less than 100g/km of CO2, making them free to tax.

The Fabia Estate has a 530-litre boot, which Skoda says is the best of any car of its type. That figure grows to 1,395 litres with the rear seats folded.
