Mercedes Marco Polo camper van priced from £58k
Marco Polo sleeps four and is available with the choice of two engines and two trims
The new Mercedes V-Class Marco Polo camper van is now on sale. Prices for the factory-converted motorhome start at £53,180 and rise to £57,195.
The four-berth Marco Polo is based on the Mercedes V-Class MPV and features a range of home-from-home equipment, including a kitchenette with a fridge and hob, as well as a two-seat sofa that can transform into a bed.
Other equipment includes a bed in the powered extendable roof, a wardrobe and a large luggage compartment.
The V-Class Marco Polo is available with the choice of two versions of the same 2.1-litre diesel engine. The 220d develops 163bhp and records an official average fuel consumption figure of 44.8mpg. CO2 emissions are rated at 166g/km. The 250d engine produces 190bhp and while its fuel consumption figure is identical, CO2 emissions increase slightly to 169g/km. Both are fitted with a seven-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
Two trim levels are available. Sport features yacht wood flooring in the rear compartment, a camping table with two chairs, swivelling front seats, three-zone climate control, external fresh water and power connections, tined rear windows, 18-inch alloy wheels, sat-nav, leather trim and an automatic parking system. The AMG Line model, for an additional £2,140, brings AMG bodystyling, 19-inch alloys, sports suspension, a carbon-look dashboard and metallic paint.
Options include a £595 Lane Tracking pack, which bundles together blind-spot monitoring and lane-departure assistance. The £1,695 Driving Assistance pack features Distronic Plus (which warns if you're following another vehicle too close) and Pre-Safe (which can tension the seatbelts, close the windows and position the front passenger seat for optimum protection in a crash). That pack also includes blind-spot monitoring and lane-departure assistance.
The Marco Polo is one of a small number of factory-converted camper vans and rivals the Volkswagen Caravelle-based California.
