Jaguar F-Type updated for 2017
Updates for sports car include new technology and a limited edition version
It’s now almost five years since the Jaguar F-Type went on sale and the manufacturer has revealed its first set of updates for the sports car.
The revamped F-Type doesn’t look vastly different to the old one, with changes essentially confined to standard full LED headlights and refreshed bumper designs specific to particular F-Type models.
Tweaks to the interior are more significant, with all refreshed F-Type models getting Jaguar’s Touch Pro infotainment system. This includes an eight-inch touchscreen display that can be controlled in the same way as a smartphone. The new technology also includes a parking assistance feature that can find and park the car in a space for you.
Lightweight sports seats are now available as an option, as are new trim materials and Siena Tan leather upholstery.
Jaguar has renamed the F-Type S model the ‘F-Type R-Dynamic’ for 2017, so this variant comes with the same choice of 335 and 375bhp 3.0-litre V6 petrol engines and the options of rear or four-wheel drive. It sits above the entry-level F-Type model in the range.
Perhaps the most significant aspect of the updates for 2017 is the limited-edition model launched to celebrate them. The F-Type 400 Sport will be on sale for a year only and comes with a 395bhp version of the 3.0-litre V6 engine.
The 400 Sport comes as standard with a ‘super performance’ braking system and configurable dynamics system, which allows you to change the settings for the throttle, gearbox, suspension and steering individually.
Buyers have paint choices of silver, black or white to go with the car’s satin-grey 20-inch alloy wheels. Grey and yellow 400 Sport badges adorn the outside and the theme continues inside with yellow contrasting stitching on the leather upholstery.
The 400 Sport starts at £70,115 and slots into the range between the R-Dynamic and the F-Type R.
The new F-Type range in full:
F-Type, priced from £51,450
F-Type R-Dynamic, priced from £55,150
F-Type 400 Sport, priced from £70,115
F-Type R, priced from £89,980
F-Type SVR, priced from £110,000
