Skoda Superb crowned best new car to own
The results are in for Carbuyer’s Driver Power survey and it’s a one-two finish for Skoda, with Lexus scooping bronze
The Skoda Superb is the best new car you can buy today, according to Carbuyer’s annual Driver Power survey. The Superb’s blend of space, safety, build quality and technology – as well as the excellent customer service offered by Skoda dealers – sealed the deal.
The Superb narrowly beat the Skoda Yeti SUV in an impressive performance from the Czech brand.
The Lexus RX finished third in the Driver Power poll, with owners heaping praise on its handling, comfort and driver enjoyment. RX owners also scored their cars highly for overall design, as well as interior materials and build quality.
The Toyota RAV4 came fourth with excellent scores for reliability and practicality, while Kia will be pleased to learn its Astra-rivalling Cee’d hatchback came fifth, thanks to being highly rated for the comfort, space and low running costs it offers owners.

This year’s Driver Power poll was more detailed than ever, with seven different surveys covering different phases of the ownership cycle. UK car owners were also asked to rate their cars in nine different categories, covering issues from running costs and reliability, to infotainment systems and practicality.
The various surveys were completed by thousands of respondents, and form a nationally representative snapshot of life for new-car customers and owners in the UK.
