2018 SsangYong Turismo: largest MPV on sale gets a facelift
Refreshed SsangYong Turismo seven-seater gets a new look and improved infotainment
This is the new SsangYong Turismo, facelifted for 2018 with a new front end treatment and a few other detail changes. The large MPV’s new look brings it in line with the latest SsangYong Rexton SUV and SsangYong Musso pickup; LED daytime running lights, a smoothed-off bonnet and a new front bumper, grille and lights help lend a more modern appearance to the people carrier. Prices for the Turismo start at £20,495 in SE trim, with the range-topping ELX starting at £26,995. The car is also available through the Motability scheme.
The SsangYong Turismo is one of the cheapest MPVs on sale and also the largest. At five metres in length and with three metres between its front and rear wheels, the Turismo offers a large cabin with plenty of room for seven passengers – and even with all seats filled, the boot measures in at 875 litres. Take out all but the front two seats and a total of 3,146 litres is available.
The best large MPVs to buy in 2018
The Turismo range layout has not changed following the facelift – entry level SE models are joined by the mid-range EX and top-spec ELX. The latter has received updates to its infotainment system, which now includes Bluetooth connectivity, DAB radio and a rear-view camera display, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
All SsangYong Turismo models are powered by a 172bhp 2.2-litre diesel engine with a Mercedes-sourced seven-speed automatic gearbox. ELX models come as standard with selectable four-wheel drive with a low ratio setting and boast a 2,700kg towing limit. Opting for a 4x4 model brings a drop in claimed fuel economy from 39.2mpg to 36.2mpg, but would make great sense for caravan owners.
The SsangYong Turismo comes with a five-year, unlimited mileage warranty – this can be upgraded to a seven year plan for an extra charge.
