Mercedes-AMG A45 S

The new Mercedes A 45 S variant becomes the first hatchback to have more than 400bhp, thanks to a total of 415bhp. The A 45 S manages the 0-62mph sprint in 3.9 seconds, with a limited top speed of 168mph. It also boasts the most powerful production four-cylinder engine ever made. Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel-drive is standard, along with an eight-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.

Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S

Price: £52,045 - £58,045

Like the hatchback variant, only the CLA 45 S model will be sold in the UK with a 415bhp power output. This means a 0-62mph time of four seconds and a limited top speed of 168mph. Adding 100bhp over the CLA 35 model, it also surpasses the power output of the Audi RS3 saloon by 20bhp. It gets the Mercedes 4MATIC all-wheel drive system and the same eight-speed automatic gearbox as the hatchback version.
