Volkswagen Arteon gains new flagship with 268bhp turbo petrol power
Volkswagen has expanded its Arteon range with a new 268bhp version of its 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine and all-wheel drive
Volkswagen has released a brand-new 268bhp, 350Nm top-of-the-range 2.0-litre turbocharged engine for the Arteon, capable of reaching 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds. Available now in both the Elegance and the R-line trim levels, this new powertrain is priced from around £39,000 and aimed at performance-orientated fastback buyers.
The 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine comes with VW’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive system fitted as standard. It means that the Arteon equipped with this new powertrain is one of Volkswagen’s top-performing cars, overshadowed only by the Volkswagen Golf R in terms of 0-62mph pace.
With the addition of this 4MOTION 4x4 system, the grip and handling of the Volkswagen Arteon should see an improvement and all models are fitted as standard with the DSG automatic gearbox.
You’ll be happy to hear Volkswagen hasn’t compromised on running costs to achieve this attractive performance. The new 2.0-litre TSI Arteon averages 40.4mpg combined, which is very acceptable for an engine with this amount of power, and emits 160g/km of CO2. As usual, the Arteon should not disappoint on day-to-day functionality, giving a generous 563-litre of boot, rising to 1,557-litres with the rear seats down.
The Arteon with this 2.0-litre TSI engine option is available in showrooms now, in the Elegance trim for £39,065 and the sporty R-line trim at £39,850.
