Volkswagen Amarok Black Edition launched
VW Amarok Black Edition trim features extra style and tech over the Highline model
The Volkswagen Amarok pickup truck is now available in a Black Edition trim level. The Amarok Black Edition offers additional equipment and lots of black styling touches over the standard truck. Black Edition models are available to order now, with prices starting from £35,790 (exc. VAT) for the entry-level model, rising to £41,950 (exc. VAT) for the range-topping Amarok Aventura.
The Black Edition trim level includes 20-inch black alloy wheels, while the rear bumper, side bars, fog light frames, interior headliner, dashboard finisher and exterior trim are all painted black. The Aventura model gets exclusive badges on the side bars and rugged-looking underbody protection that prevents damage to the underside of the vehicle when you go off-road.
Over the Highline trim, the Black Edition offers a pack that includes auto wipers, plus sat nav with European mapping and an off-road info display. Choosing the Aventura Black Edition means you also get leather upholstery, electrically folding wing mirrors, a cornering function on the front fog lights, a protective coating for the load bay, a multifunction steering wheel with gearchange paddles and electric front seats.
Twelve colour choices are available, including the optional pearl-effect black shade shown here and two matt colours.
The Volkswagen Amarok is available with 201 or 255bhp from its 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel engine and the Black Edition trim can be ordered with either engine. Upgrading to the Aventura Black Edition means you automatically get the higher-powered engine. Both engines return up to 28.2mpg but economy slips slightlys for the Aventura model.
All Amarok models have an eight-speed automatic gearbox and permanent four-wheel-drive as standard, which allows a maximum towing capacity of 3,100kg. The Black Edition comes with front and rear parking sensors and a trailer stabilisation system amongst other features, as it’s based on the Highline trim.
The Amarok Black Edition with the 201bhp engine starts at £35,790 excluding VAT, while the Aventura Black Edition costs £41,950 before VAT and any options. You can choose a Mountain Top roll cover for the load bay for £1,665, while the aforementioned matt paint is less expensive on these two trim levels - although it still costs £2,420.
